I found (locked) thread with similar title, glad I did as I thought there was something wrong. I can fully understand how being allowed to post in the Q&A section can be a good thing to help prevent bots and spammer's.
One thing though, the graph is showing about another 65 hrs before first task is complete, should I switch to one of the 12 hr tasks?
Looking at the date (Nov 2009) I can see why you need as many computers as possible working on this stuff, Pretty sure date is still accumulating way faster than it can be processed?

When starting out the time estimates are very pessimistic, so sit tight on the tasks that are running.
As to the data being processed, just now a lot of old data is being re-processed using the current applications which perform a more sensitive search.

Couple of things first. When you first start with Seti, the times you see that show time to completion are estimates. Due to the wide variety of computers on here, there is no way for Seti to know with great precision how long it will take your computer to complete a work unit. After you have done (I think it's 18 or 20 ) work units, the estimated time will be closer to the actual amount of time to complete. But even if you were to get the work unit done in say 12 hours, you still have to wait for validation of the data from another computer. Each work unit is sent to 2 computers. Each has a set amount of time in which to complete that work unit. Once done, it's sent back to Seti where it waits to be compared against that second computer. If the results are similar enough then both computers get credit. If they aren't close enough then the work unit is sent to a 3rd computer and that result is compared against the first 2 result to see which are similar enough. This can go on up to 5 times. If none of the results are close enough, an error is reported and none or partial credit is granted. Only those computers whose results are similar will be granted credit, the other's have their results marked invalid and no credit given. So it may take some time before you are granted credit for your work unit if at all. In the beginning, there was so much data that it seems like an overwhelming task. Computers were slow and only single core and no GPU crunching. A lot has changed over the years. If you look at the statistics section above and look at the top host, some of these computers are major powerhouses. The Graphic cards are becoming more and more powerful and chewing through the data at impressive rates. Of course not all people have such machines but every bit helps. You can check the status of what data being processed here

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html

You can see how fast the tapes are being analyzed. As the power of computers increase, they are finding new ways to use peoples donated computer time. Even reanalyzing old tapes to see if something was missed just a few years ago. Sorry for the long explanation.

It's all good, I was expecting to get 1 or 2 credits, turns out it's over 500 so I can now become a nuisance everywhere. LOL

Your android is not showing as being connected to the project.
Once you have installed BOINC you have to attach to SETI@Home, this will create the unique (SETI@Home) identity for the computer (your android). It will automagically download a small number of tasks, and start to process them, returning the results as they complete, and they are then validated against another user who has been sent another copy of the same task, and provided the two sets of results are sufficiently similar you will get some credit.
In the case of an android device you should be able to get BOINC from Google's app store (or what ever they call it).

Boinc doesn't recognize his android and thinks it's a Macintosh thus doesn't want to download itself onto his smartphone. Don't think we've tried Google appstore yet, only the direct download from the website. Thanx Rob:)

It's a Bada, not Android. Someone knows if crunching on a Bada is possible? Julie says I can't.

Julie is correct. There is only support for Android, Windows (not Windows phone, btw), Linux, Mac OS X and OpenBSD for BOINC.

And third part custom. This is what the technique used for optimized applications was originally intended for.

And how many of the BOINC porters are still around, selflessly porting BOINC 7 over to the most obscure of operating systems, Linux excluded?

Yep, none.

Yep, none.

But it is still an option to port BOINC and applications to a random OS. It is, however, a lot of work.

But we weren't talking about options, we were talking about present support. Bada, Samsung's now defunct own operating system is not supported by any of the present methods of getting BOINC, or the science applications.

RAC: >1 is sufficient (I think)

Give the link of thread where you can't post and what you click.
(if the thread is locked no one can post)

It was the TLPTPW thread. I also thought he could post at a RAC of 1. His RAC is 12 now, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore. Thanx BilBg:)
