When 7.2.42 is using my GPU for AP, the time elapsed seems to reset, semi-randomly. I have over 300 hours on the current work, and I just looked at it, and only 54 hours is being reported. Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I don't know if my install is messed up, or if I am exceeding a counter limit.

I hope I am not bringing up an old topic, but noting popped for in my quick search.

First, with your computers hidden folks are going to be grasping at straws. If you want to see the information available to other users, just have a look at mine - nothing that can directly trace back to me, or where the computer is. And further nobody can remotely "prod and poke" your computer.

If I knew for certain what that meant, I might be able to comment.

Do you mean that AP "time elapsed" is resetting as a work unit runs? Are you confusing time "elapsed" with "time to completion" which is a different, known, thing.

Are you new to AP so that your estimated crunching times are way, way off the mark and are adjusting?

If you were being specific, I think I'd reboot the machine from a cold start. But "why" it's doing that I can't guess without being able to see the machine or without your telling us all about it including hardware, driver, BOINC version, stock-or-lunatics, etc.

hello I have had simular problem so after I aborted a few units and got shits I looked into it . If your like me and are running Lunatics then you may have done what I did and just install new Bionic and pointed it to the older data folder I was using . And there is the fraeking problem as the old version I was using was using a Intel chip and I am now using a AMD I noticed a group of files called INTEL q8400 which was the old chip . I thought I had removed both files but hadn't done so I have now removed them to a old folder the files are called
r1316_IntelRCoreTM2QuadCPUQ8400266GHz.wisdom and
r1846_IntelRCoreTM2QuadCPUQ8400266GHz.wisdom

but make shore you have the AMD eqvielent files of this before removing them to a differant folder or deleting them I will let you know if theis has completely fixed the problem as I believe it will as I had simular prob when I started the machine and returned to seti and I thought I deleted these files but had only moved 1 of them the other was still there and why only a couple of units have had this problem

hello again I figured out that there are 4 Intel files and when I removed 2 the other 2 was still there causing probs so you will also need to remove this file as well as the other 2

r1797_IntelRCoreTM2QuadCPUQ8400266GHz.wisdom
r1843_IntelRCoreTM2QuadCPUQ8400266GHz.wisdom

and again you will need AMD versions but not shore about the r1316 file not shore if you need that 1 but if I still have probs i'll let you know

This particular computer is running the stock BOINC, and I reboot it after I get done using it for anything else, so the WU get max access to the machine.

The time elapsed is just what I said, based on what shows as a column in the "Tasks" tab. The amount of time elapsed for a given AP unit appears to change, lowering by a large amount. (As I said in my original post. For example: one day it will show over 200 hours elapsed, and when I look a day or two later, the column shows having only been working on that same unit for 70-ish hours.)

The time remaining is always a best guess, and I know that, so I do not take much stock in what that reports. (Until it is within a few hours of finishing a given unit.)

This apparent error only shows on AP units, not standard WU.

With your computers hidden, we can't see if your host has completed it's 11 validations yet.

Having computers hidden or unhidden doesn't mean any difference in security, the only real reason people hide computers is if they are crunching on someone else's computer and wish to hide the fact,
you can see a few more details about your computer, like ip address, and DCF that the rest of us can't see.

I'm sorry, but the fact of the matter is that unless I have some idea of what hardware you are running on what OS, I'm lost.

That doesn't mean that others are lost and you might get some help. It's just that I can't even begin to guess what the problem might be with only the information you've given. You've described the problem, but with your computer hidden we can't see any symptoms.

This way all info ppl need to help will show . Including unit numbers that are in error

Or just give us the host ID number for the computer and that way we can see the hardware details, BOINC version, OS used, application details and Stderr output for the finished tasks.

Cheers.
