Well, as some of you know, (from me posting in PTSD Thread), my dad is having his left kidney removed. He's been in surgery since 8 AM - PDT; over five hours, now...

Please pray for a successful procedure, and his safe return home tomorrow. Thanks everyone.

My mom just gave me an update. He is in recovery; but they haven't assigned him a room yet. As expected, he will be in overnight.

The kidney was inflamed and infected, (per the doctor), and had to come out. Previous reports stated that it had been reduced to just 10% functionality. All of this was due to scar tissue in the ureter which allowed three large kidney stones to block up the ureter, causing the infection and reduced functionality of the kidney.

I talked with my dad about an hour ago. He is in good spirits. He thinks they will keep him tomorrow night as well, and he will return home Wednesday. We'll see... I'm still hoping for tomorrow. :-)

Thanks, again, everyone. :-)

Didn't see this thread until just now, but glad things went well for your dad. I would not be surprised if they keep him until Wednesday, just to make sure the other kidney is carrying the load and there are no other issues post-surgery.
