Looks like I am in the top 25% for RAC (yay!), but how far am I from getting the 10% badge? I can't seem to find that out. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I haven't seen any changes in badges. Do they change?

According to BOINC Stats you are 8,553 out of 1,483,749 by RAC.

You know, I have a Boincstats account and for some reason I couldn't find that.

Hmm...doing the math it seems I'm in the top 1/2 percent of all SETI crunchers by RAC. That...doesn't seem right.

the BoincStats pages say that we that have posted here are ______ out of 1,483,749 for RAC (what the badges say it is for if you hover over it) and our badges are

HAL9000 69 1%
WinterKnight 1,223 None
Borgholio 8,553 25%
Batter Up 36,472 1%

My conclusion is it is not working.

Well yes the "8,553 out of 1,483,749" would be total users. Not the "active" users of which the badges are meant to be based on. We currently have 129,722 active users. So that would put you at 6.593%.

When the badges first came out it was noticed right away that they were not working correctly. I think they have been static since then. The BOINC dev team may have stopped working on that to do some other kind of work. I have not been keeping track of the BOINC Alhpa list.

Dr. Anderson has fixed a typo which was causing the badge data to not update. Checking the "Top Participants" list, 1 though 1351 are in the top 1%, down to 6772 are in the top 5%, the remainder in the top 25% because that list only goes to 10000. If extended, the cutoff for having some badge would cover about 33860 participants.
                                                                   Joe

Right I remember the comment out the typo recently now.
The dividing line for the 5% badge is in the 4160's right now. So the OP would need to increase their RAC by about 900-1000 to get the next level badge.

RAC changes so the dividing lines will surely move over time. Probably at some point all 10,000 on the "Top Participants" list will only be 1% or 5%. Given the numbers from the stat sites a user can always find how close they are to the next percentage in a way.
Maybe Dr. Anderson could change the hover text on the badge to display the users percentage, or put it next to it.

...

If 10,000 were 5% or above, there would have to be over 200,000 active participants. The trend has been the other way, fewer participants with better hardware.

I just noticed that my badge has changed to a gold 1%. That means I'm in the top 1350 of all participants, with my modest pair of crunchers? Wowee!

Good job. You are currently at 1366. The dividing line between 1% & 5% is current at ranks 1368 & 1369.

Thank you. :-)

I'm assuming that 25% is NOT where I want to be, right??? I want the number to be lower, and that continued crunching on my GTX760 will get me there... Right???

TL, Is your RAC climbing on that machine? I dont know what a 760 can do. Have you tried running two work units on it.
Running 1 or even two cores with out an updated GPU card just wont cut it now days. My I7 920 was a hot deal back in the day with its GTS 250. Now days it sucks even running Lunatics. About 5200 Rac running MB and AP. I will try all APs soon and see what happens. Im still doing my chargeing at the windmills with my MB stock only test.

It looks like the current crossover point into 5% is in the 4100 RAC range. Your daily numbers seem to indicate you could get to that RAC or a bit higher.

Here's a similar setup to your rig TL that will show you the potential that you could get from yours.

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7111292

Which will easily get you into the 1% club. ;-)

[edit] It looks ATM like you'll need a RAC of about 4,300 to get into the 5% class and 12,400 to get to the 1% class.

Cheers.

My GTX760 is a brand new card, in a brand new computer. The RAC is climbing. (I don't know what the card can do, either, as this is my first GPU.) My AMD A6-6400K APU, (CPU), is dual core. I've set BOINC to crunch "0" CPU, only crunch GPU.

I'm currently crunching SETI at 45%, SETI Beta at 35%, and Einstein at 20% of the time. The card currently crunches one WU at a time; I was unaware that I could crunch more on it; however, from what I have learned, I need one CPU core free and since I have a dual core processor, that leaves one core to feed the GPU - so, I'm stuck at crunching one GPU WU at a time, right? (Oh, and I'm crunching SETI stock, no Lunatics... The card finally locked in and settled on CUDA50.) [EDIT]I'm also crunching MB and AP on SETI and Beta.
