Message 1537112 - Posted: 7 Jul 2014, 4:05:19 UTC

I haven't had one of those in ages, but I'm craving one now. Actually, a Reuben would be good right now, but there aren't any all-night deli's around here, and none that would deliver anyway. The only order-in food option for my 3rd shift lifestyle is pizza, and it's not very good.

Your post is a good example of why we might want to "quote" what it
is we're responding to. I thought you were commenting on my having
a sickness. Then it realized it couldn't be that. You might crave a
sickness, but I don't think you could eat one.

Sorry Suzie, I get a little lax and casual in my posting format sometimes, especially when I'm tired and hungry. ;~}

Something new needs to be posted here, so I'll tell you that I made a
big ol' pot o' chili a couple of days ago and will be eating chili for
a while. I do this because it doesn't cost much and lasts for days. (In
case you don't already know, I'm relatively poor.)

What foods have you folks been eating lately? Anything special?

I hate to say it, but frozen pizza has been my staple lately. I'm just too tired and busy to cook right now.

I adore chili, though, and need to make a big pot soon!

If I had to cook for just me - well I just wouldn't! No! You can't make me!! :)

I like anything that allows me to serve it several days in a row - and cheap is GOOD because prices are so high... and money doesn't stretch - it rips! :( I utterly sympathise Suzie.

Tonight - I will be flinging shepherds pie onto plates... and tomorrow... I will be flinging MORE shepherds pie onto plates... :)

Yum. I love shepherd's pie. Or shepherds pie. I'd make it a lot if I had an oven that works.

Actually it might even be shepherds' pie...

Of course it is only shepherd's pie (or which ever variant of spelling you may choose) if it is made from either lamb or mutton. If made using beef (or any other meet for that matter) it is cottage pie.

I started with shepherd's pie :) then edited it to shepherds pie because I thought - hang on a minute - that's MY pie cos I made it - though it does sort of suggest that I didn't make it with lamb but with... um... shepherds :)

I would LOVE to try Shepherd's Pie. I absolutely love lamb and mutton. (Goat too, if it's done right.)

I guess it's cottage pie that I like, then. I have never and would never use
lamb or mutton.

(Not judging anyone, btw.)

Shepherds, why do I always think of the German kind? Still the pie I posted looks good, I've had nutella, it's good, looks and tastes like pure chocolate, but then it's a hazelnut chocolate spread.

I don't know if you can get the cut where you live, but I have found that grilling pork "steaks" is even better than chops. They are more fatty, which lends more flavor and they grill up perfectly. It also helps that they are normally a lot cheaper than even the lowest priced chop cuts.
