Never been there. But I understand it is like going to the oldstyle games Midieval style while eating out.

Seems like I've seen or heard of a place like that in a movie. Sounds interesting. I'd go. They must go through a lot of napkins(no silverware).

I haven't been there but I overheard talk from people who have been there. This link might help a little.

You apparently don't get a menu to choose what you want for dinner, which is ok, but I imagine it's rather pedestrian fare. Sounds like a kitschy good time, actually. ;~}

Yeah, a toad in the hole looks a little more involved than a pig in a blanket.

Not much of a menue but what do you expect when the king invites you to dinner. Off with the head of anyone who complains. On the other hand, the people coming to dinner were most likely receiving better food than they could provide for themselves.

Reminds me of when I was a young child. There was a restraunt called the King's Table Buffet.

SUPER FOOD PACKED RAW VEGAN CARROT CAKE RECIPE

Ingredients:
- 2 cups almonds
- 1/12 cups pitted soft dates
- 2 cups raisins
- 4 cups carrot pulp
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 ½ tablespoons fresh ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- pinch sea salt
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional) Lemon Frosting (to top the vegan carrot cake recipe)
- 1 ½ cups whole raw cashews
- 1 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon maca
- 1 cup dried coconut
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon lemon Zest
- 1 tablespoon vanilla

Making This super food packed Vegan Carrot Cake To make the cake batter:
- Soak the raisins and the dates, in separate bowls each in 1 ½ cup water for 5-10 minutes to soften.
- Drain the soak water and set aside. Using a juicer, juice about 20 carrots in order to acquire the 4 cups of carrot pulp needed and drink the carrot juice ? In the vita-mix grind the almonds into a fine mill.
- Add the dates and one cup of the raisins and grind until you have a smooth paste. In a large bowl, mix with the carrot pulp, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, lemon zest, orange zest, sea salt and walnuts, and the remaining one-cup of raisins.

To make the frosting:
- Soak the cashews in 2 cups fresh water for 30 minutes.
- Drain and rinse. In a food processor or a vita-mix blender, grind the dried coconut into a powder and set aside. Blend the cashews; honey and ½ cup of the date soak water, orange juice, lemon juice, lemon zest, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add a touch more of the date soak water if necessary to aid in blending.
- Add powdered coconut and blend well. It may be necessary to help the blending along by scraping the sides of the blender with a rubber spatula and continue to blend. Allow to stand in the refrigerator if necessary to thicken.
- Put the Super Food Vegan Carrot Cake Recipe Together To layer the cake: Split the cake batter in half. Line a serving platter with plastic wrap or waxed paper.
- Press half of the dough into an even circle. Slip pressed dough on plastic wrap or waxed paper off the platter. Press the remaining dough directly on the platter into an even circle for the bottom layer spread just less than half of the frosting on the bottom layer leaving a 1-inch border.
- Delicately flip over the layer on the plastic wrap or waxed paper onto the frosted layer. Re-shape any mishaps and smooth the sides.
- Spoon the remaining frosting on top of the cake and spread evenly over the top and sides. If you wish, this cake can be prepared into one layer.
- Press the cake dough into an even circle on a serving platter, and frost evenly. For best results, allow chilling and setting in the fridge for one hour or more. Stencils can be used to create designs.
- Cut starts, hearts, and spirals out of cardboard and lay on the cake before sifting, or sprinkle with ground almonds and cinnamon.

I love carrot cake. I also have no problem permitting myself to eat it
because, even though it's "cake," it has vegetables in it.

I love carrot cake! I really need to start baking this stuff instead of buying it from the store. Cookies are as far as I've ventured into home baking.

I've baked cookies and cakes, made meatloaf, soups, cooked a turkey and baked stuffing, etc, etc, etc... My Mom was a fantastic teacher, but that's how I got a merit badge for cooking in the boy scouts back in 1972, that was a piece of cake and I was only 12 years old then...

My mom was into all that, too. She was good at decorating cakes, too. :~)

Does pineapple make a good pie? Anyone have a recipe for it?

(Just a random thought I had this morning.)

Don't have a pie recipe but a cake I do. Extra easy to make.
All you need is a Angel Food cake mix and a 14oz can of crushed pineapple.

Pour the dry Angel Food cake mix in a mixing bowl.
Add one 14oz can of crushed pineapple.
Mix the two together. Nothing else.
Pour into a cake pan.
Bake the cake mix to the instructions on the Angel Food cake box.

Now the hard part.

Let the cake sit about 24 hours after it is done baking. The pineapple sugars and flavor have to have time to filter out into the cake. The less time you let the cake sit. The more it will taste like Angel Food.

I've tried that a few times, but I didn't know it's supposed to sit.

The problem I have with that recipe is that the angel food cake mix comes with the cake mix and the dried egg whites in separate envelopes. You're supposed to mix the egg whites with whatever liquid it says (I forget) and whip it up good, then fold it into the cake mix and its liquid. This is what gives the cake its light and airy, "angelic" quality. If you just dump both envelopes together and stir with the pineapple and its juice, the cake comes out flat, dense, and chewy.

What kind of Angel Food mix do you get? I usually get a Pilsbury or Duncan Hines. Just one envelope to open.

I'll check those. I think I usually get a store brand.

Okay, I got a Duncan Hines. It is indeed a single bag of powder. Unfortunately, when I made it tonight I used too small a pan and it ran over. I keep an old cookie sheet on the bottom of the oven to catch spills, but I need to clean cake bits off the racks.

Should have made brownies instead. Maybe tomorrow. No, I used the same pan I use for brownies. Have to get the cake out of it first.

Brownies sound good. :~) I have a ton of Christmas candy to plow through, though. Everything from fudge to little miniature foil-wrapped chocolate Santa Clauses. Peppermint ice cream, too. :~)

Planning on making chili sometime soon, but my ingredient list is long, and I haven't got it in my head.

My list for chili is easy: I don't make it or eat it.

That's mine too, right out of a can, though I could go from scratch, I just don't feel like it.

Why not a can of ravioli that you put on a radiator or perhaps a hot computer when you go to work and then enjoy warm enough when you come home?

When I did my military service as a conscript we found out some neat ways to cook food and avoid dishing:)
