Kidney & bladder infections are no joke, absolutely no joke at all. You are wise to take the drugs in exactly the way have been told (even if it means getting up twice in the night to "pop some pills")

I had one about three years ago. I felt rough, didn't know quite why, far worse than any flu, then my kidneys started to hurt (the "wrong type of hurt" for me) and other symptoms not for the faint hearted. I phoned for an ambulance, and was admitted to hospital shortly later "unconscious, but breathing", (I only live about 15 minutes from the hospital, and was conscious when loaded) and woke up two days later with tubes coming out of every orifice and a few more besides. All told I spent a week in hospital while they pumped stuff in and drained stuff out....

My roommate would get infections all the time and I think they would kill you before they damaged the kidneys to the point where they no longer functioned. She never was unconscious but more than once I had to get over the counter pain pills (sometimes in the middle of the night) to hold her over till we could get to a doctor. Her infections were so often that we would keep a test jar and antibiotics on hand so we could start treatment as soon as possible. If you have problems often, drug stores carry test strips that will tell you in two minutes if you are developing a problem. You still need to see a doctor to make sure the antibiotic is the correct one for the infection you are dealing with but it will help you determine if you are dehydrated or have an infection.
Take the drugs and drink plenty of fluid and hopefully everything will be cleared up but the time you run out of pills.

Yeah it doesn't help that I have an undiagnosed bladder problem previous to the infection, that needs a ultrasound scan and the table can't support more than 350lbs, so I'm losing weight, I need to, since it could be a mass inside there or I need some pills to overcome the problem, sigh. Things could be worse, though I hope not.

You might have explained something I couldn't figure out and that's why you have the infection. Infections are common in people who are unable to fully empty their bladder. My roommates problem was the result of a constriction in the urethra that the doctors didn't have a good way to correct. Correction to whatever is going on in your bladder may clear up these infections once and for all hopefully. I know you are not having fun!!!

CONGRATS on the weight loss, Vic!!! :-) Due to eczema, and now water retention in my feet, I've been unable to exercise for awhile... :-( So, I haven't been weighing myself, either...

I'm now on Furosemide for the water retention. The eczema is clearing; so, once the water retention is gone I can return to exercising.

Right now, though, my feet are so swollen that it is difficult to get my shoes on. :-( I hope the Furosemide starts working quickly.

I know about water retention in the feet, I put My lace up shoes on to counteract that, not all day, but only while the sun is up, after the sun goes down the shoes come off. Thanks TL.

Thanks Monday.

Me too, as I can't stand anymore of these soy milk pancakes, their an acquired taste, I'd rather have a sandwich for breakfast.

Posting here w/a real non-dairy breakfast, next time I'll have to try something other than soy milk, if I have to buy milk for pancakes, Silk light soy milk, in this case, as the taste is just slightly off, a little singed on the pancakes does to a small extent cover up that taste, but not enough.

Why not real milk this time? Doctors orders, no cows milk(dairy products) while I'm taking My levofloxacin pills, of which I have 1 left to take on Monday morning, that will be the last, then Tuesday the treatment will be over.

What's left goes down the sink drain, and I ate about 2/3rds of what I made, that's enough.

Yuck!
