Hi Folks, I notice that you can run more than one Boinc Manager on a single computer. Can you run separate data sets for seti with this type of setup? Problem is Seti will only run 8 threads in one instance of Boinc manager, but I have more. |

It sounds like you have a configuration problem with the BOINC Client (rather than the Manager), which can be solved with a rather smaller sledgehammer than a second parallel client installation - that is indeed possible, but overkill for your stated purpose. BOINC is fully capable of utilising all 24 cores in your "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2697 v2 @ 2.70GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 62 Stepping 4]": the first place to look is the setting On multiprocessors, use at most 8 processors in your Computing preferences |

Thanks very much for the prompt response. I click Your Preferences and set the On multiprocessors, use at most to 8 (I had it set to 0 which I though would allow seti to determine how many processors I had and use them all.) I made the above change under both Primary (default) preferences and preferences for home. I returned to my BOINC Manager and choose Projects, Update. These steps had no effect? I have plenty of RAM. Any other ideas? Thanks again, Shane |

Thanks very much for the prompt response. I think you need to set it to 24, not 8. Make sure you update after the edit, and then go into Boinc on your host and hit the update button there to download the new preferences. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |
