Could wormholes allow TIME TRAVEL? Collapsing 'tunnels' could let us receive messages from the future, claims physicist

Wormholes are theoretical tunnels that create shortcuts in space-time
If a message entered a wormhole, it could reach the future or the past
But wormholes are thought to collapse before a message could get out
Dr Luke Butcher argues if a wormhole is longer than it is wide, the amount of negative energy inside would allow it to stay open longer than normal
Long enough, he claims, to carry a single particle of light through time
In theory, this photon could carry a message to a distant past or future

It's all conjecture at this point. Whether mankind will ever be able to harness enough energy to find out is the $50,000 question. I wish I could be around to see it but as it is now I am just hoping to still be here when we go back to the moon or even better Mars.

If people send messages back from the future how come we haven't got them? We get messages from the past all of the time that's easy.

That is a good evidence that our future scientists haven't found a way to send messages back in time.
But there are theories that show that you can't send messages back to a time before the time machine was built. I remember seeing someone explaining that on Through the Wormhole i believe. I'll look for that clip and post a link if i can find it.
There's also the paradox problems that come into play when you start messing around with the past. Maybe the future scientists have the technology but know that a reality altering change would result if they did send a message. Hell, maybe they already did send a message back and it changed the future so much that they couldn't build the machine so the message was never sent back in the first place! Yikes time paradoxes are weird :0
Then ya got the whole multiverse thing. Maybe they sent back a message already but it caused another branch in the multiverse creating a timeline that we (our timeline) is not a part of. Or maybe the message automatically gets sent back to a different verse of the multiverse so it can't cause a paradox in the timeline that we and our future selves share; nature's way of avoiding paradoxes.
My head hurts just thinking about this stuff :/

I can't seem to find the clip that i mentioned above but i found this in wiki about 1 type of wormhole time machine that explains the "can't travel back to a time before the machine was built" thing i said above.
" One significant limitation of such a time machine is that it is only possible to go as far back in time as the initial creation of the machine;[35] in essence, it is more of a path through time than it is a device that itself moves through time, and it would not allow the technology itself to be moved backwards in time. This could provide an alternative explanation for Hawking's observation: a time machine will be built someday, but has not yet been built, so the tourists from the future cannot reach this far back in time." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_travel
But this only applies to a certain type of wormhole time machine, not all of them.

I think many things will remain possible "on paper" that will never be achieved on a scale that would make them practical for everyday use. Especially those things requiring the energy of an entire star to happen. But having a dream of doing such things may lead to other technologies that will benefit mankind.

There are, in theory, both time-like and space-like paths through a wormhole. A space-like path might enable communications in a single time domain, at (effective) speeds far greater than that of light . Since wormholes appear to be so short-lived, perhaps a packet system, something like that used on the internet, could be used.
A tiny part of the message sent through one wormhole, before it collapses, the next piece through another wormhole, and so on. The pieces would be reassembled at the receiving end. Of course, to reach a given destination, it might be necessary for parts of the signal to pass through a series of wormholes.
