Message 1516753 - Posted: 15 May 2014, 21:23:08 UTC

Hello all.

My name is Michael Miles
I have been a member here since 2007 and have racked up a few points.

I have had a melt down on my system. It just caught fire after my friend LEO the wonder kitty bit into the fan wire and it melted the board and the power supply.

The problem lies here. $$$$$$
My team leader promised to send me cash to help with he cost. That was a month ago.
Have not heard from him at all.

I am on a Disability because of AIDS and I get 950 a month in which 750 goes to rent.
I spent money getting this computer up because a promise was made but by the looks of it fell through. I spent my food money and part of my rent.
I did spend 365 bucks to get this machine up.
At this point I have no food or cat food for my friends.

If anyone can help with a small donation I would surely appreciate it

This has messed me up bad. If I though that My team leader would not have promised my this gift I would not have done the computer. I tried to return the board and power supply but no go there so here I am. I'm crunching again but I can't eat my computer

Thanks to all who may respond

PM me for details is anyone would like to donate

I just want to add a great big thank you to the people who donated to my food and my Cats food.
You all know who you are....

I am so amazed that when a person asks for help the help is there.

Thank you all for your very kind support and generosity.

Hugs and kisses big time

To all that have donated a great big thanks. I have received 225.00 from 3 people.
It has filled my cupboards with food and cat food.

My RAC is climbing again. The people of Seti at home are just the greatest. Happy crunching

I find it a double standard that you can get assistance like this; however, when I needed the same, my thread was "removed as offensive"...

Good for you, and congratulations that you got assistance. However; I see it as a double standard.

I'd have to agree with you on that.

Did you put your address down when you did the same?
I put one up and it was taken down right away because the address was on it

I really don't see the double standard. It's just simply asking for help

He was just simply asking for help too.

But, his thread was restored, so it's a moot point now.

I'm glad that both Michael W.F. Miles and TL04 got some help. Me I'm on My own, next month if the last supplier of the Azza 9000B/W case still has any(B means Black, whereas W means White, I want to avoid getting a White case, though if I have to, I guess I'll have no choice), I'll be buying one for $219.06 and that includes shipping to Me, why do I say 'if'? Cause this case is Discontinued, so I'm running out of time, I'd like to get a 2nd Black case in August too, but that may not be possible, as new/used cases are disappearing online. In My Mind white cases attract fingerprints... On Saturday My PC went dark, I had to reset the PC to get it to work again, I'm running out of PC and possibly, time... Some cretin will as He has in the past razz Me, yet He's allowed to do that here and you wonder Why I'd like to not post on Seti for any reason, it's cause Seti condones Trolls who crunch...

CM Scout is an excellent case with tons of room and for less than 100 dollars.
It will handle 2 power supplies and lots of drive bays.

Excellent fan placement.
And of course black

The Azza Genesis is one heck of a case but one heck of a price too.

A good case makes the computer

Well there is a practical reason for the Azza 9000, the motherboard that I have is an XL-ATX EVGA X79 Classified motherboard w/an i7 3820 cpu, the Scout can't do that, the Scout can only do ATX at best, plus I plan on having 4 video cards in the PC using aio closed loop cpu water coolers like the Antec 620 which work pretty well on the gpu from what I've read elsewhere(Plus a 240 type radiator for the cpu), the 620 pumps are held in place by adapter plates like the NZXT Kraken G10(see below), I have bought a 620 and a G10, which should be here soon, I'm waiting for a stock reference GTX580 heatsink/fan/shroud to go back on sale as My Zotac GTX580 Infinity/AMP doesn't have one. With 4 gpus I don't see a reason for a 2nd psu, I've got a Silverstone ST1500 1500w psu which is rated for 4 GTX580 cards by Silverstonetek.

Well I didn't pay much for either, both were used, the motherboard was for about $200 and the cpu cost less than $177 before shipping, as to know how, I'm good enough to build one, nothing special there, not like there is any call for it of course, I'm 54 almost. Thanks.

We are basically the same age. I'm 53
You did extremely well with the cost.

The GPU's today are just plain FAST

I was thinking later going to an ATI GPU for Astropulse as that is all I crunch
That are cheaper then most Nvidia products. For multibeam Nvidia cards rule. For Astropluse ATI is the one

Soon the code will be fixed I hope to allow Astropulse to not use so much CPU time with Nvidia pruducts
Same with Ati on Multibeam.

You did very well with cost.
Cost is one reason I am still with AMD
half the price and not too much slower than intel.
For now anyway

I do pretty well with my 6 core 1100T and the little 460
I average between 20000 to 24000 RAC using 5 cores on the CPU and one task at a time on my 460 Astropulse only. running Multibeam I get half of that
The board that I had to settle with is only a 3 stage VRM so overclocking this 6 core is a no go.
Time will allow something better. For now I am very happy I have a computer to crunch with
Have a great night bro

AP_r2180 supports this already using -sleep switch.
You can download it from my website.

Thanks for the tip
Installed it and tried with all 6 core crunching AP instead of a core free Slowed down the GPU in a big way.
Once I left a full core available the GPU went right back up to full usage.

Not using the CPU in kernel calls but still need the free CPU on AMD systems

Will do some experimenting.
Thanks Mike

Thats correct Michael but it reduces CPU consumption significantly.

Nice to see this out

Thanks Mike for the heads up bro

Is there a fix for ati with Multibeam?

I very glad to see this. It has always been a WANT on my list
