My old slow windows box has just successfully downloaded some workunits and is crunching the first one. My Linux box downloaded partial workunits. P@H workunits are made up of multiple files. For a workunit, some files downloaded and some failed. Connection to the P@H server is down right now so I don't know if it will download the remaining files or if it thinks the workunits are bad.

Alos, it looks like the project name has changed slightly. It's now called ProtienPredictorAtHome.

What's the address of the site to go check it out? I might want to add their project to the list...
Thanks.

The Predictor page doesn't seem to load for me, and Boinc won't let me attatch to the project with the URL http://predictor.scripps.edu/. I guess it's back down.

I've got the new mfold 4.20 executable and 1 unit downloaded and 1 unit failed. But now i'm not able to return it completely. The results consist of 3 files, of wich only 1 uploaded and the 2nd and 3rd are still trying. I think they are flooded at the moment.

Aloha, Uli

If they do have work queued, they are likely having teething troubles getting the new server and software running smoothly. If this stuff was easy, anyone could play ...

[edit]
It looks like the new servers are being swamped with people just looking ... if you have trouble loading pages that will make downloads very iffy ... so, I am guessing that there is still a bottleneck somewhere and that is causing the problems.
[end edit]

Heck all I am doing is publishing a couple stinking pages and I am having a world of trouble ...

:)

At least I think I figured out how to make my pages using PHP, though I have not started doing that in a large chunk. WIth luck I will start on that today ...

Perhaps i could give you some hints, i developed a php site for a software developing company years ago and now started to code some additions to BOINC wich have been implemented lately.

I would suggest you to use some ready to use CMS (Content Management System) because this is simple to manage.

I can always use hints ...

And I was planning on stealing some of the BOINC code base. Then reworking it to my needs. So far I have re-created the existing top level and added blank pages for the new sections that I will be using.

I also made a trio of functions to automate one of my common internal structures (icon tables) and it all seems to be working pretty well. I also found an interesting tool that allows me to add the page counters that I want fairly easily. So, progress already.

I know I will be adding more functions as I have time and as I get parts swapped around and standardize my layouts and code. It looks like, if I am careful, I may also be able to sidestep some of the IE problems with detection and alternate layout commands. I will eat that elephant when I get there.

So, I have found a good editor (I don't like the WYSIWYG tools), a FTP tool that work well, and that page counter tool. Now my next hard trick will be to locate/code a good roll-over/display for the pages. I am not sure how I will do that yet. But at the minimum I should be able to speed up the page loads with the elimination of the additional images that are currently loaded.

I'm currently writing some FAQ stuff in addition for the boinc pages but if you have mysql as well you can modify this for your page. I will see what i can do till next year ;)

btw: I'm using phpEdit as editor and it's just fine to use.

I foound a regular programmers editor called jEdit and aside from a could little annoyances is almost as TextEdit for the PC. I also found a good FTP helper and I am like a pig in clover. I had been using PageSpinner but they have not done any updates for a long time so, the annoyances there don't look like they are going to change ...

Better still I seem to be knocking down my problems (so far so good the man said as he passed my 95th floor window ...)

Um, what FAQ stuff? For the developer site? Are we duplicating work? The only reason I did the FAQ (to start) was because there was none at all ...
