We took Abby (9 yr old Ruby King Charles Cavalier Spaniel) to Cornell University today for her annual Ultrasound. We were concerned over her increasing cough. They did a Renal Panel, 2 Radiographs, an ECG and the Ultrasound. We are thrilled to say that while they saw "slight progression" of the disease, she is not currently in Congestive Heart Failure. No medication changes were made and they were really pleased with how she looked. We are very much relieved.

She said her BP was up a bit but attributed it to the stress of being at the Animal Hospital.

She was also cleared for a full Anaesthetic-involved Dental in the near future.

Never heard of pumpkin being an issue before but you learn something new every day.

I was told by the vet to give pumpin and few other veg's to my dog and he has been just fine.

Good to hear Abby's medical went well Blurf :)

@Grant - never tried giving my dogs pumpkin. Vet suggested giving them carrots once. They were both utterly horrified by them.

My Nephew had a dog named Thelma who would eat cooked french fries, She was raised by 3 people from a puppy, My Nephew(in between driving a semi truck on the interstate highway, He was mostly on the road, except for the weekends), My Brother and Myself.

@ Blurf, I'm also glad Abby's medical went well.

Pumpkin provides fiber and is often recommended after surgery or if a dog is experiencing trouble with anal gland issues.

Thanks for the support! We're very pleased she's not progressing quickly

Canned pumpkin can be helpful when treating bunnies in GI distress.

*jam fist in mouth to stifle giggles* erm... I'm delighted to hear it Grant although... I would hate to think of dog going hungry in any way... :)

@Gordon... Learned something new! (Is good here innit! :)) I don't think our rabbits ever suffered from it - but they were quite partial to pumpkin...

@Chris - erm... *pat* *pat* everything seems in order... your felicitations are much appreciated though :))))

Dog go hungry? that chow hound can't get enough of anything. He eats better than I do Annie and no kidding.

I know dogs are not to eat grapes, onions, chocolate but this loves all of the. He gets outside and eats grape stems and don't put down any chocolate you will find it missing. :))

Thank you for sharing Blurf.

It took a year for the Grandmother of the last two pups to let me even pet her. Once she turned that corner she became the most loveble and protective dog.
I believe she was severly abused, before I rescued her from a private party.

Baby left an epic butt drag across the bathroom floor. I cleaned it up. So then the little stinker (I mean that literally) did it again! Aargh!

Young pups are known for that and a simple de-worming pills will take care of that quick. about all my dogs got them back home, it was over in a day or so after a treatment.
