Installed boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh on a box running Cinnamon Mint, and I can't seem to locate how to start running the app....

EDIT: The information below will work but you could also use your package manager to install the BOINC client. Just open it and search for "boinc".

Did you download the BOINC client from here?

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php

Once downloaded, open the properties for the file and make sure it is set to executable. I use Mint 16 KDE and it is simply a matter of opening Dolphin, right-click on the file, select properties, click on permissions tab, click the checkbox for "is executable", press OK button. Then double-click the file.

The command line method for doing this would be:

chmod +x ~/boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

This is assuming it was downloaded to your home folder. Once that is done you could use:

./boinc_7.2.42_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh

to execute the script.

On a side note, you might have received a faster response to your problem if you had posted this on the BOINC site instead of here.

That's weird, I downloaded boinc on VISTA and Linux Mint, no problems with either (other than my inability to remember what I was supposed to do) Used terminal for Linux download, super fast compared to Windoze
