But i would like to use both cpu + gpu ( GPU Mainly ) as got more grunt but Both would be great if possable?, flat out as cooling is not a problem with ither, i`m sorry in advance, i have been looking and trying new settings for weeks that the COMMUNITY have advised, but i must not be doing it right, I`ll not be able to respond right back, prob few days, but any help would be very welcome, thanks :) |

Looking at the only computer on your account, BOINC isn't detecting your GPU, so we'll have to start with that. If you can provide the first 30 lines of your Event Log by pressing CTRL + SHIFT + E, then selecting the first 30 lines (approx. is fine) and pasting them here we should be able to determine why. You may have to exit and re-start BOINC so we can see the first start-up lines that will give us the information we're looking for. |

27/04/2014 18:59:32 | | Running as a daemon You have BOINC installed as a service, and when doing so, BOINC won't be able to detect the GPUs as the drivers for them run in a different session than your account does. Simplest way to solve this is to uninstall BOINC, then reinstall it. Next in the installer, click three times until you come across a screen with an Advanced button. Click the Advanced button, next uncheck "Service Install". then continue the installation. If you installed drivers from the GPU manufacturer, BOINC will then detect the GPU. |

nice thanks, i`ll try this and get back prob in couple of days, would it allso be possable to just run it when I tell it to, as at min its running as soon as i turn on the pc, taking an Age for windows & firewall to get started, as taking all the cpu power, so no screen saver just flat out Cpu+Gpu when i ask for it then suspend when i need to? thanks for your help :) |

The default setting for Use of GPU is only when the system is not in use (idle). The default setting for Use of CPU is to use always. You can change that to also when system is idle. |

All user tasks get access to resources (CPU and RAM) over the science applications, which run at a higher priority. Therefore there is no such thing as the science applications "taking all the CPU power"; the science applications have no say when Windows takes away those resources to give them to higher priority applications. But yes, you can change your preferences to only crunch when you're not using the computer. Simply go into your preferences and change the option "Do work while computer is in use?" to No. |
