Hello, and thanks for reading my post.

First, my apologies if I don't quite explain this clearly. Still, I hope you'll get the gist of what I'm trying to describe.

I am currently running BOINC 7.2.42 on my Windows XP machine, the latest in a long line of BOINC versions I've run over the years. However, this is apparently the first time I'm experiencing this with it...

After the requisite several minutes before the screensaver "turns on" (with a BOINC logo and words like "BOINC screensaver loading" appearing on screen) but then, quickly, "turns off" (the onscreen image goes to black as the image seems to want to reduce itself to an item on my taskbar).

Shortly thereafter, though, it tries to "turn on" again and the cycle seems to resume, and without the screensaver ever stopping on either of the two (2) BOINC applications that it usually would run (i.e., SETI@Home & ClimatePrediction).

I'm not doing anything to cause this "turning off" (which could understandably happen if I'm intervening with, say, a keystroke or move of a mouse), so I'm wondering if (a) there's a bug in this version and/or (b) something else could be going on inside my computer that I'm not aware of.

Any insights, please?

Thanks,
Bram Weiser

Hi, again.

I just realized that this is SETI@Home's Forum, and not BOINC's in general, so my apologies for posting here. (I reposted this to BOINC's Forum here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9145)

Please feel free to comment here if you like, but it might(?) make more sense to do so at the BOINC thread, instead.

Nonetheless, again, sorry for the cross-post, and for the misplaced post to begin with.

Bram

Yes, I am having the same problem that just started when I downloaded the newest version. I have never had this problem before. I have even uninstalled it and re-installed it twice and it is doing the exact same thing. So I guess I need to go to a different message board for this?

I have had a similar problem since installing a new hard drive and reinstalling windows 7 version 6.1 build 7601 SP1 and BOINC 7.2.42 (x64). I don't get a Seti screensaver option and have to select BOINC but set it never to run. The BOINC logo shows at start of the screensaver saying 'loading' then Seti screensaver graphic appears but before it can show the full graphics BOINC comes back and says 'loading' again.
Have posted this here as I see it as a Seti problem.

Couple of questions since we can't see your computers. First, what are the settings for the boinc screensaver preferences? Are you analyzing data on your graphic cards?
