I don't have numbers, but it was just warm and humid enough when I came home to turn on the AC. Whether I turn it off tomorrow night depends on the predicted cold front and its rain. A/C here is either obsolete(the car) or just too expensive to connect and run without solar photovoltaic panels(the house), I did some math(that could be wrong) and it would take about 84 305w Panels to equal or get near 575Kw's and that's just about what I use per month, though the usage does vary some, the previous month was about 539Kw's. In any case that's way too many panels for the roof here as that would be 4 rows by 18, plus a 5th row of 12, though the roof probably has enough area for 4x18 and 2x10(1x20 if arranged like the 4x18) or 92 panels max(about 841.8Kw a month, 92*305w/1000*30=Kw). Even if I had the panels I don't know if the roof could handle the weight from the rails and the panels, half the house has thin trusses under the roof and the other half(Kitchen and Living Room) have a vaulted ceiling, besides the place isn't mine and I'd rather do solar on a place I owned(I'm working on that), though I could never file for the tax credits until I was at least 62yrs old. If it wouldn't have been for Danimal and Cookietaster, I would have moved back to Europe a long time ago. Give me rain, fog, wind etc. I wilt above 100F/38C, less with humidity. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Vic, you don't need enough panels for your entire month's consumption, you just need enough for whatever your maximum consumption is at any given moment. And that's only if you want to be totally independent from the grid. Otherwise, you need enough for your average usage; sometimes you'll use less and send some back to the grid, sometimes you'll use more and draw from the grid. The goal is to come out about even. There are companies out there that will put solar panels on your roof for free, but they keep most of the profit from selling power back to the grid. Do a search for it. I did, I was told they don't install on mobile homes, manufacturers are known to take shortcuts in construction on mobile homes, Fleetwood Enterprises got sued into bankruptcy. I'll get out of here eventually, then this place will be someone elses problem. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
