Hi, please look at the statistics page: http://www.allprojectstats.com/top.php?projekt=15&type=5&country=53 You will see my (accidentially) two accounts there - - Jamaica Focus Mediastream Corporation Ltd. / Sven Littkowski - on rank 7 - Jamaica Focus Mediastream Corp. / Sven Littkowski - on rank 41 I would like to know, how I can merge my early, previous account (rank 41) with my recent account (rank 7). I do not want to lose those 4,678.48 credit points. And having two accounts, makes not much sense. Please assist. Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |

You cannot merge BOINC accounts. Simple as that. What you can do, if you still can log in on the old account, is let it join your team. |

Thanks. I will try to access it, and to join. Is there actually a real reason why they cannot be joined, naively asked? Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |

Because somebody can steal accounts. E.g. you are at "friend's" computer and decide to log-in your account with 'Remember me' checked. Later your "friend" re-opens the page http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php Now he can (if was possible) merge this (yours) of "his" accounts to another (his real account) Also the communication to SETI@home and all projects go over Internet in plain text form (HTTP not HTTPS) so any (e.g. Proxy) server in the path can see your <authenticator>XXXXXXXXXYYYYYYYYYZZZZZZZZZZ</authenticator> which is sent with every sched_request_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml Who have the <authenticator> have full control of your account. Thanks, well explained. They should use encryption (https, SSL) in order to make many more features available. Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |

Encrypting the connection using HTTPS doesn't verify the person who might be trying to steal an account, so it wouldn't change much if they used it. |

OT but for reference, Internet security isn't always foolproof. https://blog.torproject.org/blog/openssl-bug-cve-2014-0160 |

They should use encryption (https, SSL) in order to make many more features available. Not sure if you noticed, but Seti is already using HTTPS. The forum you posted this in is, for instance at https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=15 Yes, it also is at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_forum.php?id=15, but if you just fancy the added security, you'll use the secure connection and adjust all your links and bookmarks accordingly. When you then look further, you'll find that a lot of the projects plus the BOINC domain have changed over to HTTPS, and have done so some time ago. |

It seems for SETI@home this happened 2 weeks ago (Certificate - Valid from 14.04.2014 to 14.04.2017) But many links still are not fixed: In 'Your account': https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/home.php ... most links are OK except 'Message boards 1234 posts' and links under 'Friends' (usernames) In the forum (here) if you click the usernames at the left they are http On the 'HOME' page any link you click (e.g. 'Message boards') will turn you back to http: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/ (and the column with GoodSearch box is ugly) If you look at accounts: https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=8647488 https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=30880 https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=41965 ... only some links like 'Send private message' are https And is there a way to tell BOINC to use https?
