If that happens who pays for the overnight lodging, Canada, USA, or the victim?

One will be a guest of Homeland Security until a parent picks them up. Optionally one can swim the St. Laurence but it isn't as warm as the Rio Grande. I would say I'm a first nation citizen and don't recognize white man's laws.

Did anyone see Nik Wallenda walk a tightrope across Niagara Falls from the US to Canada? The first thing he did when he got to the other side was show his passport. I guess he looked suspicious.

From friends who have had the experience, "overnight lodging" consists of a very uncomfortable chair in the locked waiting room at the border office. Apparently this is free.

By the way, this foolishness works in both directions. Years ago a work mate of mine was in Canada from the UK on a six month work visa. He went to upstate New York for a day's skiing, and got into the US on his UK passport plus a US day visa. He was refused entry into Canada that evening, because his work permit was only valid for entry from the UK. He got a special US visa which permitted him to return to NYC, fly to the UK, and then fly to Toronto. A very expensive day of skiing.

Vermont has much better skiing.

This happened a few years ago when only a driver's license was required to go back and forth. A few of us went up to Canada and got in no problem. One guy was born in Ireland but came to the US with his parents when he was a baby and got citizenship when his parents did. A common question asked by US customs is where were you born. When he said Ireland they were looking to deport him.
