Hi, since 2005 I have an account with SETI, called "Jamaica Focus Mediastream Corporation Ltd. / Sven Littkowski". But I want to change it to a team account, or to join my own team. I didn't see any way to change my account from a private account to a team account, so I went to the team account web page (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams) and created a team, called "Pangalactic Alliance of Friendly Aliens Searching for Earth and other Developing Races (PAFA)". Back in my personal SETI account, i now tried to locate that team in order to join, but I cannot find it. 1. What did I do wrong? 2. How to join my own team? 3. Is there a way to change my personal account to a team account? I want to keep the SETI joining date of 2005, that's why. Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |

You cannot convert your account to a team, a separate team has to be created. Your account will keep the same start date, but your team will have the start day of the day you created it, and that's as it should be. It wouldn't be fair to start a team far older than it really is. If you created the team correctly, you are automatically the owner of that team. You created your team through http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams website. I do not know for certain, but I do not think these are BOINC-wide for all projects. I'm fairly certain each team has to be created at each project's page? The correct page to create a team here on SETI is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/team_create_form.php |

Thanks for the answer. Actually, I used exactly that page to create my own team. That other team website links to this page. But why can't I see my own team when searching with my single account for a team to join? Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |

It takes up to 48 hours for the team made on the BOINC Wide Teams page to propagate to the projects. Longer even if projects don't have the team import set to automatic (not all do). Once the team is imported here, you don't have to join it. If set up correctly, it'll show you as Team Founder. You can then administer it through your account at any of your projects. |

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I know about those legendary 48 hours, and will wait another 10 hours before they are up. I want to have my personal account joining into the own team account, in order to benefit my new team with the credit of my private account. I am at quite some good position on the Jamaican charts, that's why. :-D Thank you for your reading, time, good intentions and assistance, Sven |
