Well if this was 1939 Id say that Germany would invade Poland under the pretext of Saving German civilians. But in this case its 2014 so it will be Russia invading the Ukraine saving the poor militant Pro Russian agitators. But I keep getting told that here is no parralell to that the year 1939. Overall awareness of situation from americans is astonishing, indeed. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/monkey-cage/wp/2014/04/07/the-less-americans-know-about-ukraines-location-the-more-they-want-u-s-to-intervene/ The less Americans know about Ukraine’s location, the more they want U.S. to intervene Poor agitators is here, not there ;) (and quite misleaded btw) There are population that don't want usurpators at rule. Does it really matter who rules as with today's societies throughout the world it's just... Well, I think it does matter still. One thing to loose money due to too big corruption and another thing to loose life because nazis at rule... From those 2 evils I would chose first still. So many peoples in Ukraine do. Does it really matter who rules as with today's societies throughout the world it's just... Quite agree, so why aren't we learning from them? |

Don't know who "we" you mean. I would say "we" learning. And try to prevent that. USA - don't know. Obama just pathetic now. I recall how big was joy that non-white democrate comes to rule... And how all this ended - he "became white" it seems. Same actions, same decisions same rhetoric... His Nobel peace prize looks as mockery now... And why Merkel allowed herself to close the eyes - it's on her conscience... BTW, worth to translate and read: http://lenta.ru/articles/2014/04/17/tigipko/ It's interview with one of president candidates. I don't agree with all his statements, but at least it's quite adequate point of view from inside of Ukraine. And what the most important, even if he quite negative regarding Russia in current situation, he fully confirms absolute purposelessness of current interim government. We is us, mankind, because no matter what era one lives in, there will always be one who wants to rule the roost! |

We is us, mankind, because no matter what era one lives in, there will always be one who wants to rule the roost! Too rhetorical question. Maybe because peoples did not adopt communism ideology in whole? Maybe because they continue to teach their children in same way they was taught?... I think root of issue in that. Not in quality of life per se or something else. BTW, read Clifford Simak's books for example. I did re-read some of his books recently and was amazed how really close ideas he tells in his books to communism ideas. Still it's american writer, funny... It has never been down to party politics or religion. History has already proved that. Power & Greed is the problem. Case in point, and highly relevant to this thread... Putin plans Crimea Casino |

There are just huge number of plans regarding Crimea we hear every day. Looks like now it's the most important region of Russia, LoL. Will see what will be realized indeed. I personally hope that plan to restore Crimean observatory, one of biggest world observatories, will be realized... Will see... SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. It has never been down to party politics or religion. I did not talk about politic or religion, I talk about way of thinking. That's the problem. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

The way of thinking involves either politics or religion & sometimes both, there's just no escaping from that fact. |

Maybe because peoples did not adopt communism ideology in whole? Well, when it comes to joining EU. Sweden did that and I see pretty big change in Sweden politics after that. Before I'd say Sweden was somewhere between East and West when it comes to politics. Now all is about money....almost. Before EU: 1 Swedish mail was dilivered to 98% in time(24hours. After EU: 1 Swedish mail is dilivered to 97% in time(72hours). Still same mail at same cost. I can understand Russia when it comes to Ukraine and getting closer to EU. Russia is only East as US is only West. That's my colours. |

I would not say it's improvement, sigh:) But it's not about just joining EU market. Besides of all Russia entered in WTO (not sure it was wise move though). So trade agreements can be made, but national security should not be sacrificed. It's regarding Russia's interests in Ukrane. But even w/o that interests there are many other bad things that happens there now to just ignore. Will see how that will evolve in next few weeks. No signs of improvement still, agreement from 17 april just as void as agreement from 21 february... SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

National security from whom? The US does not now nor has it ever had any desire to invade Russia. In today's world I rather doubt that any western country or group of countries have a strong desire for land conquest. Open economic trade and fair pricing for vital commodities should be every countries goal. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. This no longer applies in light of current events. |

Say it your president, maybe then it would think twice before invading another country to set "fair pricing" there... Do you know how jackals behave? They also don't attack while you strong enough... I think you mean the last president. I agree with Bob that invading countries to control territory is so last century. It is a lot easier (and much less costly) to just trade for what you want. But that is why I am not particularly worried about Vladimir. I don't think he would want western Europe if you offered it to him. He can make more money in Siberia. |
