Rac running on 4 cores has been varying 50 +- since 3 June. I have one pending left from lunatics and one stuck AP that needs a lab kick.

Rac is currently 1852. When I get home from work tomorrow night I will go back to HT and see what happens. I will still run stock MB.
After running HT and rac is stabilized. I will set NNT and run down stock MB.
Then turn off HT and run 4 cores of AP only, NO GPU.
I want to see whats happens.

RAC is 1,834 I have one MBv7in pending. And they must have cleaned out the data base as my AP pending is gone from last year.
So I have turned my HT back on and doing 8 work units of MB stock. Im curious to see how much it will climb.

Just a quick update.
Its been since 10 June I went back to running HT no GPU. RAC then was at 1,834. Today it is at 2120 and still climbing.
All lunatics Apps have been vailidated.

I know I have stated I want to end the test and go back to just running lunatics. But I have decided to do two more tests. When rac evens out on HT, I will go back to 4 cores and turn on my GPU. And then after that I will go to HT on and the GPU. This will be all stock MB only.
By then I think I will have had enough of stock MB:)

Running 8 cores my RAC average is 2130 running HT stock MB no GPU.
I have turned HT off and running 4 cores MB stock and running my GPU.
And Now I have to be patient again.

Update- RAC is 3807 and I think its going to settle near that. I will wait and see. Im running 4 cores and the GPU MB stock only.
I started this particular test at 2130 RAC running HT on 8 cores no GPU stock MB.
So far an increase of 1,677.
When the rac settles I will then go to HT on 8 cores and the GPU doing stock MB.

RAC has been holding steady on -this host
Have been running 4 cores HT off and the GPU. RAc is 5,043 running stock MB only.
So now Im freeing up one core to feed my mighty GTS250. Im betting the RAC drops and fast.

Running HT off and 3 cores with one core free to feed the GPU rac is currently 5,083. But it has been fluctuating up and down 50 points. So I feel that freeing a core for this machine neither helps or hinders.

Next test is HT on and running 8 cores with the GPU on stock MB only.

After 10 days RAC is steady 5,326 running HT on 8 cores., And running GPU.
Last test will be running 7 cores and a GPU.
Then will do a summary and that will be it on what I learned for this machine.

This running stock MB only test is now done. NNT is set. And I will go back to running lunatics.

I started this test with an average RAC of 5450 running luntaics doing MB and AP work.
I went to stock MB only with HT on no GPU useing 8 cores. RAc ended up at 2017 Average.

Turned off HT ran four cores no GPU average rac at end was 1,834

HT off and running GPU RAC average 5,043.
Freed one core HT off and running GPU Average RAC 5,083

HT on 8 cores and GPU running average RAC 5,326.

Freed one core and running GPU, average RAC 5,442. End of test.

I came into this test with alot of preconcieved notions on what would happen.
The only one I had right was not running a GPU will hurt RAC a lot.
For my machine the I7 920 with my GTS 250, Its debateible if freeing up a core with HT on or off makes a dfferance. Higher end cards thats something else.

I had read ( cant find the link ) that MBv7 is oppitimized for users, And that lunatics really cant speed it up.

So for a new cruncher just trying out Seti@home the stock build will do then ok, As long as its MB work. AP stock Im afraid to try:)

I will leave this thread open for any criticisms on anything I overlooked or didnt do. Or did wrong.
As allways your milage may vary.

AP will be updated to a new version sometime in the near future. So stock AP v7 & initial Lunatics apps will be nearly the same. There may not be enough time to run this same test for AP v6 before AP v7 is released.

If I can run down my cache of stock MB I will go to AP only on Lunatics apps.
I think APv7 wont come out by then. So I will do just AP work and see what happens. And I have never seen an AP on my GTS 250.

This applies already to AP6 GPU apps.
AP6 stock for GPU are just older revisions.
