Wow, slow day here in NC. And 12 days since the last post in this thread. Does this mean everything is actually working right??? Isn't that a sign of the apocalypse? David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

And another bump to keep the thread from falling off the 1st page after 12 days of no panic. Wait there is nothing to panic about? That is kind of a panic itself! SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

Some of my hosts can´t access setiathome.berkeley.edu with my main ISP (GVT-ADSL2), so this hosts cant UL/DL nothing since yesterday at the afternoon, try a secondary ISP (NET-Cable) and works fine. Since with the secont ISP i could access the site, and nothing changes at my side, i imagine my configuration is OK. So i ask if the same happening to others or is only at my side, maybe is happening only in Brazil with this specific ISP, or there are others with the same problem? I guess is a route problem, but don´t see that after Colo. |

Thats probably a DNS issue Juan. Either try a other DNS server or try ipconfig /flushdns in command line window. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Mike, that´s my initialy ideia but i change the DNS server to the one used by the working ISP, and even try direct access by the IP but still nothing works. Then i call and ask the ISP and they explain was because a major failure for their access to outside Brazil, all Brazilian site´s works normal, but not anything outside. They fix few moments ago now and all back slowly, very slowly, to normaly. DL are at 2K aproximately.... :( Sure is a side efect of the beggining of the FIFA World Soccer Cup who starts in few hours here. Everything here is a compleate mess... anyone expect something diferent? :) |

The ISP connection still works like a strobo light, but something else calls my atention, the Validation pendings (3193) rise to an not normal lever about >3x the Valids (1017), normaly is in the range of 2-2,5X could be related to this problem too? |

My Pendings vs Valid are about even. Which is normal for me. Your wingmates are probably just slacking off. You could have also just been given a bunch of short work. I would agree on that. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Nothing to do with whether the tasks go into the pendings pile. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

Pending ratio is most closely correlated with turnround time, which in turn is dominated by cache size. I run one (fairly fast) machine with a one-hour cache, because I want to be able to re-task it, even factory re-image it, at short notice. Practically every job it returns goes into the pending heap in the first instance, because that host is always first to return. Other machines with multi-day turnrounds, because of multi-day caches, have lower pending ratios. |

My pendings are up at the moment. Usually around 1,000 or so, now around 1050. Inconclusives have dropped back down to more usual levels. Grant Darwin NT |

My pendings are up at the moment. Usually around 1,000 or so, now around 1050. Inconclusives have dropped back down to more usual levels. Mine too. I mostly crunch APs and always find that for 2-3 days after a new batch are released my RAC drops by around 10% and my pendings greatly exceed valids (currently 112 verus 60). This is because my main cruncher will have been empty when the APs were released and so starts processing them immediately. It then has a high probability of having to wait for a wingman to validate the WU. After a few days, things settle down and I return to pending and valid about equal and my RAC goes back up. Just another minor irritation of the current limits. |

I run a 10-day cache on my cruncher. Basically, having a pending task when I report a completed one is not very common because typically everyone has a turn-around time of less than 2 days..most are less than 1 day, even for AP. Other than that.. I will say that it is pretty nice with the recent database cleaning (even if it wasn't performed as eloquently as expected) did clear up a lot of my limbo'ed tasks where either I or someone else was stuck in the permanent "waiting for validation" state. So weird not seeing those familiar taskIDs that I've just about memorized in the list anymore. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

It seems someone brought to the attention of the servers that there had not been a server issue in a while. So the servers felt obligated to show they could still have issues. Shame on that person... :P SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |
