Message 1504824 - Posted: 16 Apr 2014, 17:31:27 UTC - in response to Message 1504815.

Good morning everyone. :-)

I'm going to work out in about 20 minutes. I've lost 1 pound total body weight; and, 3 lbs of body fat on my second weigh-in, yesterday. I'm in my third week of working out. This is AWESOME!!! :-)

Good for you. I should do that too, but my biggest problem with working out is that it's boooorrrrinnnggg.

Ping!

Suppose it depends on what motivates you...

Thanks, David. When the Doctor says "Your A1C is 5.8, and your blood sugar is about 130. You're pre-diabetic." That's motivation to get off my butt and start losing weight. I am NOT going to have diabetes and need insulin shots... Just NOT going to happen...

Hippos are feared by Crocodiles even and for good reason, their like a cross between a tank and a nuclear sub and they don't fear much of anything, He has good reason to run, He might even be on the Hippos menu...

They certainly don't fear much (and get super cranky) and statistically more deaths are caused by them than by crocodiles. On land, as long as you get a bit of a head start and don't hang around weighing up your options :) - you do have a better chance of outrunning them over a distance than say, if you were being "motivated" by a rhino. :)

Now that's an ill-tempered walking tank, a rhino, a refugee from the last ice age, I've heard they're near sighted, best to stay far away. On the Hippos I've seen them surface like a Nuclear submarine, cranky fits them real well.

Rhino's are even bad-tempered with each other! But at night-time... they're a totally different animal. They're gentle, affectionate and playful :) I recently came across a clip of some really cute antics filmed at night, but can't seem to locate it at the moment. Her's a pic to be going on with...

Thanks, David. When the Doctor says "Your A1C is 5.8, and your blood sugar is about 130. You're pre-diabetic." That's motivation to get off my butt and start losing weight. I am NOT going to have diabetes and need insulin shots... Just NOT going to happen...

That's about what my numbers are. My doctor is perfectly happy with the 5.8. Neither of us is happy with the 130ish, especially because I used to keep it down to 95ish in the morning like it really should be.

However, I've only ever had insulin shots when I was in the hospital for something else. Otherwise, it's controlled with meds. Actually, she took me off one of the meds last year, but that was about the time I started eating badly again. She's really pushing me to start some sort of weight loss program. She's right, but I can't get and stay motivated. I keep trying to motivate myself with various things (including trying to become a train operator at the museum), but it's too easy to eat too much.

I won't say any more because I don't want to jinx your effort.

Too easy to eat too much, yeah I know that, though the Doctor has said I'm not diabetic or even close, even though I tip the scales near 391, I'm 6'1" tall and I've got joint problems from an accident and from surgery to fix a broken leg, I've had both hips and My shoulder blades dislocate, staying cool isn't easy, too much cool air and My OA starts to hurt in My back, sigh...
