I'm at work so I can't post any You Tube links as examples, but I was thinking about tv commercials from the 70's that still stick in my memory. Nothing lately really does. First one that comes to mind was a Native American with a tear in his eye, seeing trash in the nation's parks. There was also a Smokey the Bear commercial, saying, "Only you can prevent forest fires". Tums antacid had a space odyssey themed commercial - I remember it was basically just the dramatic music and the Tums pill, which resembled the moon to me(this was around the time of the Apollo program). I mentioned in another thread a commercial about margarine(Chiffon, I believe) that had a Mother Nature character getting upset when she was fooled by it not being real butter. Lightning struck, and she proclaimed with a flourish, "It's not nice to fool Mother Nature!" There are lots of good ones. When I get home I'll try to find some video links to these and others.

If you have any you'd like to share, do so here. When I get bored, I get a little nostalgic(even for old commercials) ;~}

I didn't actually start watching TV till I was 17 (mainly because we moved around a lot and my parents didn't bother with it because they didn't try to learn the local African languages of the countries we were living in) so we're talking 1984 before I was exposed to advertising. Did a lot of reading and listening to the radio instead. :) But there have been quite a few programs on British tv in recent years where people have voted for their favourite adverts, and I did like a lot of them. I will probably need to consult my other half to actually track them down though - so will be back!!!!

I mostly remember catchy songs from old commercials. I still wonder where the yellow went.

And here is one for anyone watching TV in Ontario back in the 60s. What were they singing about when they told you to have "one at noon, one at night, and one along the way"?

MILK

For what? FOR MILK! (Chorus of animated cows then sings "Drink three glasses every day!")

Did this ad run in the US as well?

I sort of remember the Nescafe series.

I recognized that couple, but the comercials I remember were for Taster's Choice, not Nescafe Gold Blend. Wouldn't be the first time a product had different names on the other side of the pond.......

Cadbury's Dairy Milk

The originals from the 60's & 70's were better but that one is not bad :-)

Really old - a puppet dog saying N-E-S-T-L-E-S Nestles makes the very best -- choooc-late.

Besides Nestles, I can't remember what it was for...

ISTR the dog's name was Farfel, and that was the slogan for many of Nestle's chocolate products - Nestle's Quik (now NesQuik) Chocolate milk mix, Hot chocolate, and Nestle's morsels/chocolate chips and baking chocolate. Our family went through a lot of that when I was a child....
