Finally upgraded to Win7 after Microsoft stopped updates for WinXP earlier this month. Installed Seti & MilkyWay on my 'new' PC, but I'm not sure how to get both processors massaging data like it used to be set up on my old PC. In fact, I'm not sure how or when my old PC decided to begin processing 2 work units at a time... it just happened one day. I DO have 2 processors setup in my 'computing preferences', but can't seem to convince this PC to quit slacking off. Thanks for any tips or pointers would be appreciated. Steve999 |

Microsoft hasn't stopped updates for Windows XP yet. That comes next month. How many tasks do you see in Task Manager? |

Task Manager processes shows: boinc.exe / boincmgr.exe / boinctray.exe and currently it's showing ONLY a single milkyway_nbody running |

I DO have 2 processors setup in my 'computing preferences', but can't seem to convince this PC to quit slacking off. What have you got 'On multiprocessors, use at most (Enforced by version 6.1+)' set to? Claggy |

Task Manager processes shows: nbody is likely a multithreaded application, set to use all available cores. (Milkyway do have a single-threaded version: what's the full text in the status column for the task in BOINC Manager, including anything in brackets?) |

Task Manager processes shows: None of Steve's nbody tasks are labeled mt, and the stderr.txt of his completed tasks say: <search_application> milkyway_nbody 1.40 Windows x86_64 double OpenMP, Crlibm </search_application> Claggy |

Claggy: My computing preference are On multiprocessors, use at most/ 80% of the processors Enforced by version 6.1+ as well as- On multiprocessors, use at most/ 2 processors ---------------------- Richard: the work unit currently processing shows RUNNING others units in the queue report: WAITING TO RUN READY TO START I have a several wunits with deadlines late next month that I've paused and show, TASK SUSPENDED |

Claggy: My computing preference are That seems to be your problem right there. BOINC will round down to the nearest whole core. So 80% of the processors on a dual-processor system would be 1 core. |

I just noticed nothing is displayed (no .doc / .txt file) when I click on: Read config files or Read local prefs file from the Advanced tab of Boinc Manager |

I just noticed nothing is displayed (no .doc / .txt file) when I click on: Nothing 'visible' is supposed to be displayed with those options. When you select Read Config files or Read Local Prefs file, you are actually telling BOINC to re-parse and load app_config.xml, cc_config.xml and global_preferences_override.xml respectively. They are not links to documentation for BOINC. |
