That's a nice idea. Unfortunately a dangerous one. Don't know about now, but back when I worked on it, there were some vicious useless DH's that many wondered just how in hell they made manager!

That made manager because they could oppose the union.

Nope, they went from NUR(now RMT) to TSSA so that don't wash.

Still does. They were low level so it was for the day to day crap, not the big stuff above their pay grade, which is what you thought of.

TSSA(Transport Salaried Staff Association) is a union.

Then we aren't communicating. Are you saying the manager wasn't a manager because he is a union worker?

No, just showing that it would have been highly duplicitous to be against the union while at the same time making avail of the benefits of union membership.

At last, someone telling it as it is, so whatever happened to democracy?

Labour dumped for UKIP

"We are currently being led into a rapidly expanding federal Europe, in which we have less and less say. Our sovereignty is being eroded by the day. As a member of the Labour party, the final straw for me was learning from a contact in a position to know that the majority of the shadow cabinet wants a referendum. Apparently, they are being told to keep quiet. I understand that prospective parliamentary candidates for the Labour party who are sympathetic to the case for an EU referendum are also being warned not to speak out. I cannot support this approach."

The tide is turning...

"Whether they want to remain in the EU or they want to leave, there are many in the Labour Party who are united in their belief that the British people must be given an EU referendum to put this issue to bed once and for all."

Oh my giddy aunt! So many choices on where to put this...

...Euro thread, Greece elections, cannabis...

...but after some sirius thinking, thought it deserves its place here :-)

I'm just hoping that I don't crack up the truck with too much laughter this morning.

I just have to find his name & address so that I can send him a crate of beer every year for the rest of his life - he deserves it!

Talk about a topsy turvy world

Noting out of the ordinary at all. Lords count and recount their money and watch starvation all around, and those less fortunate who have compassion help others. Just the normal course of things.

MP's reject ban on 2nd jobs

& one Tory's answer...

"Daniel Hannan, Conservative MEP tweets: I propose a strong external regulator for MPs, with the power to dismiss them altogether. We could call it "the electorate"."

He's having a laugh at our expense, well that's nothing new.

David William Donald(Duck) Cameron dismisses US & UK military "concerns". States Obama happy with UK "Contribution"

I bet he is & having a good chuckle as well at the stupidity of the US No 1 lapdog!

"General Odierno earlier said spending cuts could see British units operating within US ranks, rather than divisions working alongside each other."

US Army head "concerned" over UK military cuts

A cut too far for the UK?

& why Merkel & co are hell bent on using diplomacy to placate Putin...

NATO defence spending falling

One of my colleagues is half czech, and despite owning a RHD car, it's registered at his parent's house in Teplice and so has czech plates. He can park pretty much anywhere with impunity.

It's more that 'they' haven't worked out a way of tracking cars across borders yet.

The EU is at it again. Four out of five cider-makers under threat from EU tax call

“The day of the oppressor is over,” reported the Gloucester Journal in 1766. “The calamity of the cyder drinker is put away; the deadly excise man shall appear no more in our quarters.”

But the Journal had not reckoned with the European commission when it declared that the attempt by the Earl of Bute’s government to raise a duty on cider producers had been defeated. Last week the commission demanded that the British government do away with a duty exemption worth £2,500 to small-scale producers of cider and perry.

Under the exemption, introduced in 1976, cider-makers who produce fewer than 70 hectolitres a year – about 12,000 pints – do not have to pay duty. The National Association of Cider Makers calculates that this accounts for about 80% of the UK’s 480 cider-makers.

The Law's the Law! Is it?

"They highlighted a 2012 High Court ruling that the police's policy on retention of mugshots at that time was "unlawful" - but that nothing had changed as a result."

MP's "alarmed" at police database

Worth £60m - What a cheapskate
