Good for you... I'm going to have to think about it. Who are the radical left wingers running? I get a postal vote for the borough I last lived in. There will also be an general election here in Canada this year, so I can vote in that one too. That's an easier choice for me to make. I will be voting NDP. Reality Internet Personality |

Good for you... Left Unity is the party to vote for, it has links with Syriza in Greece. Left Unity I don't know if they have candidates yet where I will be voting. |

Chris, But what about the case where the Major Parties ARE the problem, as in the USA?? Relegating the other parties (either actual or potential) to oblivion will fix NOTHING when the PROBLEM is an an unholy collusion of power sharing between the two 'major' parties. The two major parties are not trying to actually SOLVE any of the problems, but only in buttering up and entrapping their constituencies into somewhat 'perpetual' support. Many people (especially here) go on and on about corruption in government. Well, in the USA the Government (yes, BOTH parties) is Corrupt as H*LL... And NOTHING can be done about it unless and until alternatives are viable. And of course the two major parties know this, and resist the establishment of alternatives with every fiber of their corrupt beings. Just as the Democrats co-opted the populist Progressives in the early 20th century, the Republicans have been co-opting the Libertarians since the Libertarians started organizing in the 1970s. They give a small amount of lip-service to a few of the core platform elements of the 'minor' parties, but actively pursue NONE of the policies. The current 'tea party' is just the latest Republican attempt to co-opt the Libertarians. They perceive that the Libertarians are the gravest threat to the Established Corrupt Order of the Rs&Ds EVER, so they are doing everything they can (with the FULL cooperation of the Democrats) to discredit the Libertarians and make them objects of ridicule. As long as the Establishment can sell the People on the idea of "don't waste your vote", their corrupt position is secure. Now then, I am not very familiar with ALL the political situations in the UK, but what I do know about it leads me to believe that you all are in a similar situation. |

Exactly MK, which is why I stated this... well, the Lib-Dems are finished anyway, as for the smaller parties, they won't get enough seats so that leaves... |

Libertarianism covers the whole left-right spectrum, from anarchism to Ayn-Randism. So you will need to be more specific. I agree that Ayn Rand's ideas are dangerous, delusional and quite horrific. Anyone who subscribes to her ideas should be aware that she modelled her philosophy on her worship of psychopaths. So if you come across a politician that thinks "Atlas Shrugged" is a good book and has merit, run away and do everything you can to ensure that they don't get into power. A coalition only works well when both parties work for the best interests of the country. As seen from our current one, they much prefer kicking each other in the teeth & the country be damned. NICE Coalition don't you think? |

As I said elsewhere, it is nice to see you adopting American politics. The way to run this is to make sure it stays so close to precisely 50/50 that none of the harebrained ideas from the extremists stand a chance and the only stuff that can pass in dead middle of the road. A do nothing coalition. |

Jeebers, just what is the matter with this damned country? The man was sacked for failing 2 breath tests, that says it all. That's it! All Out! |

Jeebers, just what is the matter with this damned country? The man was sacked for failing 2 breath tests, that says it all. Wasn't there a move a while ago to make the Underground a 'protected service' or some other such label meaning it would be illegal to go on strike? I vaguely remember the unions being up in arms about it (as usual), but it sounded like it would be popular with London's 10 million+ other residents sick of finding themselves stranded miles from home on a wet Friday evening. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

That's a nice idea. Unfortunately a dangerous one. Don't know about now, but back when I worked on it, there were some vicious useless DH's that many wondered just how in hell they made manager! |

Still does. They were low level so it was for the day to day crap, not the big stuff above their pay grade, which is what you thought of. |
