Now that I've finally gotten my first work unit (and only 3 days of waiting, woo!)..

I got a look at the "3D" screensaver my dad described to me. In my opinion.... it's childish and unprofessional in appearance. For a science project, I don't want a half-polished "My-First-Direct3D-App" thing spinning around and distracting from from the numbers and science involved.

I realize that I'm complaining, even after doing my best to frown on other complainers.... but is there any hope of adding some screensaver settings to choose 2D/3D? Or color settings, or spin rate... or something to improve the look that people are going to see when they look at my computer screen for the next 5 years.

There are settings for spin range and rate, color, text format, and star speed and number plus a few other things. Select custom hit update then you can edit the individual settings.

The settings are available on the Web. Click on "Your account". Under Preferences/ Seti@Home click on "View / Edit". Click on "Edit Seti@home Preferences". Click on the drop down for "Graphics Preferences". Click "Update Preferences". Click on "View / Edit". Have fun with the settings. Click on "Update Preferences". Go the GUI Projects Page. Right click on the project, Click Update.

I agree on the distracting 3D graphics. Take also for example the disk usage pie charts. They are *pointlessly* 3D, there ins't a third axis or anything, and pie charts are easier to read in 2D, but they are displayed in 3D too.

Good Deal.

Thanks for the settings tip... I hadn't found that page yet.

Of course.... previewing the different possibilities seems a little cumbersome, due to the "brilliant" choice to use a web interface.... but I won't complain about that for the time being.

That choice allows one setting for an entire farm. Much easier for large farms. It is a bit cumbersome for single machine users.
