hi guys building a new pc,its a 4770k i7 with an R9 290 4G gpu. question is what are the steps involved with transferring my old acc onto the new puter?

Accounts are not computer based. Simply installed BOINC, attach to the project and use the same email address you used to create your account.

If you are retiring the old computer at the same time, and the OS matches you can move the entire BOINC DATA directory to the new machine, and continue from where the old machine stopped. If you are keeping both for a bit, then install fresh on the new computer.

I've had no problems transferring the data directory to a new computer, without draining the cache, while changing OSes. I'm still using my original host number too.

I doubt you went from e.g. Windows to Linux, but that you changed from Windows Vista to 7. In the latter case it doesn't matter, but in the former it does.

No, I didn't go from Windows to Linux, but I went from XP to Vista to 7 to 8.1.

Which wasn't entirely clear. "OS matches" could mean Windows 7 to Windows 7.

okj thanx for the replys guys im going to install 'fresh' not keeping anything as im going to a 64bit system from a 32. also just for the specheads here its a 4770k i7 based build with 16gig with a r9 290 4g gpu......should be funky!!!!
