My Boinc install is basic, straightforward Win64 install. I have however, put a cc_config.xml file containing the following

<cc_config>
<options>
<save_stats_days>365</save_stats_days>
</options>
</cc_config>

It doesn't seem to do anything, alas, does this file need more? Am I wasting my time?

If I remember right all it does is collect your stats for a year instead of thirty days. So it is up to you if you require it.

Yeah, I knew that, but it doesn't change the stats display in Boinc Manager, so I'm guessing maybe something else maybe needed.

When did you add the setting? If only a short time ago, do know that it won't magically show 365 days of statistics in the Statistics tab, it will only now go do that (as where do you think it should've gotten the information from about past contacts? It hasn't saved that). So you'll have to wait the 30+ days that it normally took, and in that time you need regular contacts with the scheduler.

You did allow BOINC to read the cc_config.xml file after adding it in the data directory, yes? Changing or adding the value to cc_config.xml may require a BOINC restart.

Ah, I assumed the data was saved, but not displayed. I shall wait and see what transpires over time ;-)

thanks for the info

Sadly it truncates the data by default, but at least we have an option to change it. The graphs are generated from your statistics_PROJECT.xml file. Which would be statistics_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml in our case. If you did not restart BOINC or preform a read config file you will need to do that also. As the cc_config is only read at start-up or when BOINC is manually told to check it.

<save_stats_days>3650</save_stats_days> (10 years) for me so far:

You don't get old, discarded stats back after changing this setting. Once truncated and discarded, it is gone.
