I was professionally taught how to drive by a driving school instructor, I passed the written DMV test(which is one of 3 written tests, you don't know which you'll get, they're just drawn at random) with a score of 99 out of 100, plus I passed My driving test, this was driving My Dad's big 1970-1972 Mercury Marquis Brougham Sedan in the narrow streets of San Pedro CA, all at age 19. I say 1970-1972, since they look alike and its been a long time since then, He liked this model best. Could I pass the HGV test? Probably, though Me traveling there is a bit unlikely to happen.

Please if you come here don't drive or at least tell me your coming so i can stop driving

My Licences

HR Heavy Rigid Vehicle (Semi- trailer)

C-24 Over head Gantry Crane 25 Ton

Unlimited Low and High reach Fork Lift

Front End Loader

Backhoe

Driving a Heavy vehicle and having the Licence are 2 totally different things

I have seen people like that , Fort lift Drivers are the worse . and you can spot them miles away .

They don't put the tines full forward so people don't trip over

hehehehehehehe

Twice?!
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2015/06/man_nearly_struck_twice_by_nor.html
A man was nearly struck by a Norfolk Southern train twice in the same day and now faces charges related to the incidents.

Police arrested 43-year-old Matthew Farwell and charged him with two counts of trespassing, tampering with evidence, theft and possession of drug paraphernalia after investigating, according to Shippensburg police.

There of course is an HGV sat nav

Halfords HGV Sat Nav

Of course it also is about 3 times the price I just paid for my new Tom Tom.

Unless the company supplies it I suspect most HGV driver will use a standard one

Also if you are in an HGV and find you are travelling up a narrow country lane, then how do you turn around. You just have to keep going and hope it gets wider.

The driver in most cases has decided to ignore road signs saying things like narrow road, narrow bridges, some with weight limits, double bends, etc. etc.

Ah, the wonders of the modern age, what bliss

From many of these incidents on this thread all show one thing in common...

...failure to use an old technological standard...

...the Mk 1 Eyeball.

On a few of the country lanes round here where they meet the main road there are fitted some concrete barriers which are about seven feet apart, they don't inhibit cars and pickups but lorries are physically unable to get onto the lane, seems to work quite well.
Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

I have no license to drive anything other than a car. Took driver's ed in high school. If I remember correctly, we had to pass the official state written test to get the learner's permit. I don't remember my score on that, but I obviously passed. I also passed the driving test on the first try. Probably not perfectly, but I think I showed the examiner that I was at least aware of what I was doing. Near the end, I turned onto a major road, then asked him what the speed limit was. He said that was the most asked question on the whole test.

Police condemn taunts

Road shut for safety reasons &, well, read for yourself!

You also meet a "wonderful" group of people on social media.

Uh, radar? Talking to ground control who has radar. F-16 has air-to-air radar. Cessena 150 should have transponder with altitude reporting and is an all metal aircraft. Both pilots have eyeballs. Just how does this happen? Did everyone happen to look the other way at the same time?!

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_FIGHTER_JET_PLANE_COLLISION?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-07-07-18-12-08
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) -- An F-16 fighter jet smashed into a small plane Tuesday over South Carolina, killing two people and raining down plane parts and debris over a wide swath of marshes and rice fields.

The two people aboard the smaller Cessna were killed, and the plane was completely destroyed, National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson said. The pilot of the F-16 ejected and "is apparently uninjured," he said. A press release from Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter said the pilot, Maj. Aaron Johnson from the 55th Fighter Squadron, was taken to Joint Base Charleston's medical clinic for observation.

Unfortunately, the accident report will read, "Failure to see and avoid" as all midair collision reports do. What will be the contributing factors?

Worrisome if true

Now for road safety: - going to take a long long time before we see sensible drivers if this is anything to go by...

& they say women drivers are better...

Need for sex cost her life

...I know I've said it takes all sorts to make a world, but...

A locomotive rear-ended a second train traveling in the same direction in Virginia on Tuesday, causing five empty cars and a locomotive to derail and spill diesel fuel, authorities said.

The westbound Norfolk Southern train was struck from behind by a second westbound Norfolk Southern train near the small Western Virginia town of Dublin on Tuesday afternoon, The Roanoke Times quoted (http://bit.ly/1dZf8bC) Norfolk Southern spokeswoman Susan Terpay as saying.

Two crew members from the second train were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, the newspaper quoted Terpay as saying.

She said that in addition to the five empty cars from the first train, one of the second train's two locomotives derailed, spilling some diesel fuel.

35,000 gallons of oil spills after Montana train derailment
BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Three tank cars have leaked an estimated 35,000 gallons of oil after a train hauling crude from North Dakota derailed in rural northeastern Montana, the latest in a series of recent wrecks raising concerns across the U.S. and Canada, authorities said Friday.

No one was reported injured in the accident Thursday night that temporarily led to the evacuation of homes within a 1-mile radius and followed recent oil train crashes, including a 2013 derailment in Quebec that exploded and killed 47 people.

A hazardous-materials team contained the spill with earthen dams, according to a memo sent by Michael Turnbull of the U.S. Department of Transportation to Montana's Public Service Commission.

Unlike many of the prior accidents, no explosions or fire were reported after the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train derailed about 5 miles east of the small town of Culbertson, near the North Dakota border.

What have I often said about professionalism?

Massive fail of the Mk 1 Eyeball

The bridge height is clearly seen.

Hmm, diversion - Ah that gives the driver his get out of jail card - "I didn't know the road"

FFS, how do these t**t's get their licenses?

The victim’s body was so badly mangled that authorities could say only that it appeared to be that of a man because of the type of clothing worn.

Sadly, another reason why I dislike sat-nav's. The problem with technology is that it stops people from thinking.

5 injured - all because Sat-Nav said drive straight on

I think it's time that a similar campaign like This be done for use of technology on the road.

Having seen loads of people ignoring "Give Way" and "STOP" markings at road junctions I wouldn't blame the sat nav but the so called drivers' lack of understanding of the basic rules of the road.

Like the young lad this evening on the way home from work, how he didn't see a Land Rover, with its headlights on, less than 10 yards from him when he pulled out from a road end. No sat nav to blame, no "fancy bit" on the passenger seat, just a lack of "Look in the direction traffic will be approaching from" approach to driving. How I missed him, or how good his hearing is, I'm not sure - he had full benefit of my horns at less than a foot from his ears by the time I'd stopped. Good thing the ABS worked, I didn't want to be late home from work.
