On a i7-4770 @ 3.4 GHz running Windows 8.1 x64. It seems to be hung with 16 hours projected left to compute. Should I abort the work unit or hang tough?

Hang on in there.
If you are running the screen saver its not uncommon to have massive run times....

It looks like you are just getting started with that Host. If it were me, I'd install the Lunatics package and use the included CPU AstroPulse App verses the Much Slower Stock version. I haven't had any problems resuming in progress tasks with a different App, so, you shouldn't lose your time invested in that task.
