Capt. Hardy puts it at S39 22' 46” E087 6' 20”.

Captain claims to have pinpointed MH370 crash site

There is a strong belief in the aviation industry that searchers scouring the southern Indian Ocean for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 may find the Boeing 777 in the next four weeks.

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/30033110/captain-claims-to-have-pinpointed-mh370-crash-site/

The plane needs to be found. 239 souls and their family's need closer.

There are so many ways in life many people do not get closure.
I suspect that, after a certain amount of time goes by if the plane is not found, citizens are going to tell their representatives, quit spending money on the search. Maybe some private funders would keep the search going?

Some of the people need to know what happened. They have been on TV saying so.
Yes, agree some people do not find closer, but the mind needs it. MH370 is the biggest aviation mystery in history. The search will go on.

Guardian - International deal struck to track all flights with satellites

A deal has been struck on using satellites to track flights, which could prevent a repeat of the mystery that surrounded the disappearance of flight MH370 in March 2014.

Countries reached an accord at a conference hosted by the UN’s International Telecommunication Union that aimed to improve on the current civilian flight tracking, which relies on ground-based radars.

“In reaching this agreement … ITU has responded in record time to the expectations of the global community on the major issue concerning global flight tracking,” said the organisation’s secretary general, Houlin Zhao.

The ITU made clear the deal had been driven by the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which was lost en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people onboard. That tragedy “spurred worldwide discussions on global flight tracking and the need for coordinated action,” the organisation said.

Representatives of more than 160 nations attended the talks, known as the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC).

As hunt moves, pilot "fairly confident" MH370 will be found

CANBERRA, Australia -- The deep sea hunt for a missing Malaysian airliner has shifted to a remote part of the Indian Ocean where a British pilot has calculated that the Boeing 777 made a controlled ditching last year with 239 people aboard, officials said Monday.

Report from Australian investigators suggests MH370 was a ‘zombie plane’

Buried in the lengthy report released last week by Australia’s MH370 investigators is one crucial revelation: the aircraft suffered a serious technical problem triggered by a power outage.

The Australian Defense Science and Technology report officially acknowledges the doomed Malaysia Airlines flight suffered a sudden electrical failure before its disappearance on March 8 last year, the Daily Beast found. This backs the popular “zombie plane” theory, whereby the missing plane’s avionic systems are ravaged, rendering the flight crew helpless, and the aircraft continued flying on autopilot until it ran out of fuel.

There is still the possibility that someone in the passenger compartment got into the equipment bay right behind the cockpit and over road the controls of the plane and tried to fly it from there. Every aspect of the management of the plane can be controlled from that bay. Most airlines have it locked. The Malaysian airline didn't want that option.

Update.

The latest MH370 theory goes against all we know so far

A new theory suggesting passengers on the MH370 are actually alive and being held captive is “very highly unlikely” to come to fruition, an Australian aviation expert has said.

Families of 154 Chinese passengers onboard the Malaysia Airlines plane issued a statement earlier this week, questioning official investigations that suggested those onboard had perished.

Update. The search ends June of this year, I've read.

The case for pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah’s hijack of flight MH370

Twenty-two months ago, on March 8, 2014, at 1am, an ultra-modern Boeing 777 of Malaysia Airlines suddenly and without warning disappeared from radar over the South China Sea en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Flight MH370 had 239 people on board and the pilot in command was captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, a highly respected and very experienced aviator.

The B777 is state of the art; probably the safest aircraft flying today. I know — I have many thousands of hours as captain on B777. How then could it disappear?

In my opinion, there is no way the passengers are alive somewhere after this airliner landed and was hidden from view. The logistics of holding people hostage for almost two years would be nearly impossible to pull off without being noticed. And why would anyone do that without making demands for ransoms. Anyone holding on to hopes that loved ones from that flight are still alive somewhere is deluding themselves.

Is this part another piece of MH370??

Is this more wreckage from missing airliner MH370? Villagers discover 'plane debris' washed up on Thailand beach
A piece of suspected plane wreckage has been found on a beach in southern Thailand, prompting speculation it might belong to the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.

The large piece of curved metal washed ashore in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, according to a local official.

Villagers discovered the piece of metal and reported it to the authorities to help identify it, said Tanyapat Patthikongpan, head of Pak Phanang district.

Find: The barnacle-covered piece of metal has some identifying features, which should help narrow down whether or not it came from a plane

After looking at the video it does appear to be some kind of hatch, but looks a bit to heavy to be from an aircraft.

A piece of suspected plane wreckage found off the coast of southern Thailand three days ago does not belong to a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet that disappeared almost two years ago, the Malaysian transport ministry said on Tuesday.

The debris does not match those of a Boeing 777 and the part numbers found on the debris were not listed on the Malaysia Airlines’ parts catalogue manual, the ministry said in a statement following an investigation.

Search for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370: Area only half the size of Tasmania to search as second anniversary nears

The man leading the search for missing plane MH370, speaking ahead of the second anniversary of its disappearance next week, says there is an area only half the size of Tasmania left to search. The anniversary closes the door on new legal action against the airline.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014 during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. So far the only piece of wreckage recovered has been a flaperon that washed ashore on France's Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean in July 2015.
