About time.

MH370 search nations trial long-haul plane tracking

Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia are to trial a new method of tracking planes, almost a year after a Malaysia Airlines flight disappeared.

Contact with flight MH370, carrying 239 people, was lost en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Despite an extensive search no trace has ever been found.

The trial system enables planes to be tracked every 15 minutes, an increase on the current 30 to 40 minutes.

It uses technology already installed on most long-haul jets.

CNN special tomorrow night MH370. Don't forget this one also.

Now for the bad news. We will never find out what happened.

Australia says hunt for missing MH370 jet may be called off soon

(Reuters) - The search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 cannot go on forever, Australia's deputy prime minister said, and discussions are already under way between Australia, China and Malaysia as to whether to call off the hunt within weeks.

No trace has been found of the Boeing 777 aircraft, which disappeared a year ago this week carrying 239 passengers and crew, in what has become one of the greatest mysteries in aviation history.

MH370 vanished from radar screens shortly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur, bound for Beijing, early on March 8. Investigators believe it was flown thousands of miles off course before eventually crashing into the Indian Ocean.

The search of a rugged 60,000 sq km (23,000 sq mile) patch of sea floor some 1,600 km (1,000 miles) west of the Australian city of Perth, which experts believe is the plane's most likely resting place, will likely be finished by May.

Malaysia’s Department of Civil Aviation released its interim report with the stand outs being, 221kg of un-screened lithium ion batteries and the aircraft’s flight data recorder's underwater locator beacon's battery had expired in December 2012.

The plane is very likely to be buried completely in silt by now.

Cheers.

Malaysia Airlines Towelette Found On Western Australia Beach

An unwrapped moist towelette branded with the Malaysia Airlines logo has been found on a beach in West Australia -- and it's now being tested to see if it is the first confirmed piece of evidence from the airline's missing plane.

The package was found by a couple strolling the beach near the town of Cervantes, Nine News reports.

Kingsley and Vicki Miller found the package on July 2 of last year, nearly four months after the plane vanished, but news of the discovery was not publicly reported until today.

New MH370 Report Reveals Radar, Procedural Failings

One year after the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, a factual document issued by the Malaysian Ministry of Transport to fulfill its obligations under ICAO Annex 13 has shed new light on the partial primary radar traces obtained after MH370’s secondary surveillance radar mode ceased to function. It also exposed failings in communications and procedures at Kuala Lumpur (KUL) Area Control Centre (ACC) and Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Operations Control Center (OCC). The director-general of the country’s Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), Dato Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, elaborated on the findings with a long presentation during a conference at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) last week.

MH370 Update: Plane's Cargo Has Nothing to Do with the Disappearance of the Aircraft, Says Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi

The Malaysian government has reportedly denied the allegations that the dangerous cargo on board of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 caused the disappearance of the plane

The Star Online reported that Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi said that, according to the Interim Report and Factual Information on MH370 released on March 8 by the International Civil Aviation Organization probe team, the plane's cargo had nothing to do with the disappearance of the aircraft.

MH370 search area could be extended

The search area for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will be doubled if nothing is found in the current search zone, officials say.

The announcement came from Australian, Malaysian and Chinese ministers meeting to discuss progress.

The plane, flying from the Malaysian capital to Beijing, disappeared on 8 March 2014 with 239 people on board.

It is believed to have crashed off Western Australia, but so far no trace has been found.

At the moment teams using sophisticated sonar equipment are scouring a 60,000 sq km (23,000 sq mile) area of seabed far west of the Australian city of Perth. About 40% of this remains to be searched.

If nothing is found, the search will be extended by another 60,000 sq km to "cover the entire highest probability area identified by expert analysis", a joint statement from the ministers said.

Volunteer investigator says wreckage lying in the Bay of Bengal needs to be explored, could be MH370

A VOLUNTEER investigator has launched an appeal to search for MH370 in the Maldives, in the wake of local residents’ claims.

Andre Milne and his team say a wreckage currently lying in the Bay of Bengal in between Malaysia and India needs to be investigated to rule out whether or not it is the missing plane.

I'm a little sceptical of this Lynn . If he has some good evidence then he should be showing the Gov , but asking for crowd funding to me sounds a bit suspect.

Why Not?

MH370: The one theory of the ‘airline pilot fraternity’ that makes sense

ON March 8 2014, around 1am, Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared over the South China Sea.

It was subsequently found to have tracked westward over Penang, around Aceh and six hours later deep into the southern Indian Ocean.

This is where the continuing search is concentrated.

However, after the seventh satellite ping, MH370 could have flown for another 50 minutes (700kms), so the position line intersecting the arc from the satellite may be quite broad.

As far as the Diego Garcia conspiracy theorists and the aircraft seen over the Maldives at 8am, I have flown many times into the Maldives and also into Gan, part of the South Island chain of Diego Garcia.

There is quite a lot of airline and military aircraft traffic in that region, so sighting an aircraft at 8am does not have any significance.

MH370 search discovers uncharted shipwreck

The hunt for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has discovered an uncharted shipwreck in the southern Indian Ocean.

Peter Foley, who heads the search team, said the find was "fascinating... But it's not what we're looking for".

However, he said the find showed that if the flight was in the search area, it would be discovered.

MH370 vanished last year en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board.

No trace has been found and there is no explanation for its disappearance.

Malaysia Airlines 'technically bankrupt'

Malaysia Airlines is "technically bankrupt", its chief executive has said, as he announced a restructuring programme and plans to cut about 6,000 jobs.

The announcement follows the twin air disasters which forced its nationalisation last year.

The airline said it had "offered jobs" to 14,000 of its 20,000 workforce.

The move was expected and follows the appointment of new chief executive Christoph Mueller in May.

"We are technically bankrupt," Mr Mueller told a news conference. "The decline of performance started long before the tragic events of 2014."

I saw that in the news as well.
Two major airline disasters in a row...
None of them caused by the Company.

The jury's still out on MH370 until the plane is found, but the airline certainly can't be blamed for what happened to MH17.

No the Airline can't be blamed really on 2 totally different types of incidents, but they will effect its reputation for quite some time.

Luckily the Airline is owned by the government (hence the people) so it won't be allowed to fail.

Cheers.
