He has to believe it or he would not be the best man for the job. I am still not sure why Australia has taken so much time, energy and expense in this quest. Is Malaysia paying them to continue the search, or Boeing?

I think the Aussies are caring and giving people.

They're working as hard and fast as they can with the equipment that they have available to them (us).

We've found a lot of old lost WWII history/relics/grave sites lately in the oceans north of us, it's just having the equipment to do the depths required out there that we're the problem for us. ;-)

If it's there, we'll eventually find it (the right equipment is now available for the search), finding the flight data boxes will be the main objective 1st followed up by intense mapping of the debris area, then recovery of sections of plane. ;-)

I'm sorry to any relatives here, but if it is there, then they most certainly all have perished (their final moments unknown, my personal best wishes go out to those who have been touched by this).

Cheers.

The Fugro Discovery has encountered a "system issue" with a component of its search equipment so the search has been suspended while a fix is looked for.

Will New Year Bring New Clues to Missing MH370?

It was the biggest mystery of 2014, and investigators are hoping the new year will bring fresh answers about the fate of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

Nine months after it disappeared from the sky with 239 people on board, there has been so sign of the Boeing 777 in the Southern Indian Ocean.

So, if it is reported on the internet it must be true?

More vessels to join MH370 search

GENTING HIGHLANDS: Malaysia, Australia and China are in the midst of discussions to acquire a fourth vessel to expedite the search mission for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 in Southern Indian Ocean.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the vessel, Fugro Supporter, will join three other vessels - Fugro Discovery, Fugro Equator and Go Phoenix - at the search area once the deal is secured.

MH370 flight hunt stepped up

AUSTRALIAN Transport Safety Bureau chief commissioner Martin Dolan remains optimistic that searchers can find the wreckage of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 by the time funding runs out later this year.

A fourth vessel, Fugro Supporter, will join the search later this month with an autonomous underwater vehicle designed to probe “shadow” areas that towed sonar equipment was unable to penetrate.

The plane just disintegrated in the water.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 'may never be found' admits man who led search operation

The Boeing 777 disappeared in March last year with 239 passengers and crew onboard and, despite more than 10 months of extensive searching, no trace of the plane is yet to be discovered.

Australian former defence chief Angus Houston has now warned there is "every possibility it won't be found."

He told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation: "The ocean is a huge place, the water is very, very deep and it's possible it won't be found."

MH370: Malaysia declares flight disappearance an accident
The Malaysian government has officially declared the disappearance of Malaysian Airline flight MH370 an accident and says there were no survivors.

No trace of the Beijing-bound aircraft has been found since it disappeared on 8 March 2014.

Officials say that the recovery operation is ongoing but that the 239 people onboard are now presumed dead.

The plane's whereabouts are still unknown despite a massive international search in the southern Indian Ocean.

The declaration on Thursday should allow compensation payments to relatives of the victims.

Update.

Search for MH370 is taking place thousands of miles away in the wrong direction, insists oil rig worker notoriously fired for reporting he believed he saw jet 'on fire'

An oil rig worker who was notoriously fired for saying he believed he saw MH370 'come down' today insisted he thinks the official search for the Malaysian jet is happening in the wrong place.

In his first detailed interview since he sent out an email to officials relaying what he thought might be the Boeing 777 aircraft, Mike McKay, 57, told MailOnline: 'Almost a year has passed, but I stand by what I saw.

'I've thought about it and thought about it, over and over and while I cannot say for certain that the burning object in the sky was definitely MH370, the timing fits in with when the Malaysian plane lost contact. I have been trying to disprove that what I saw was the aeroplane ever since.'

Malaysian 370: What Happened? Premieres Sunday 8th March at 8pm on National Geographic Channel

Missing MH370 data 'strongly suggests' the Malaysia Airlines jet was deliberately flown off course towards ANTARCTICA, experts tell new documentary

Flight MH370 may have been deliberately flown off course by someone in the cockpit, a new documentary claims.

Aviation disaster experts have analysed satellite data from the lost Malaysian Airlines flight and discovered that the plane flew on for hours after losing contact.

Careful examination of the evidence has revealed that MH370 made three turns after the last radio call, first a turn to the left, then two more, taking the plane west, then south towards Antarctica.
