Good questions Dull! I have no answers.

Speculation at this point of the investigation.

Could this image finally locate flight MH370? Detailed map could reveal debris of the missing plane lying on the seafloor

Two experts have released their new illustration of the Indian Ocean floor
It could unveil debris from the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370
The map focuses on the area where search efforts have been looking
It corresponds to an area where signals from the black box were heard
Expert says we know more about 'the moon, Mars and Venus' than seafloor
MH370 vanished on 8 March with 239 people on board on the way to Beijing

Message 1522181 - Posted: 28 May 2014, 23:37:28 UTC - in response to Message 1522129.

The four acoustic pings at the center of the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 for the past seven weeks are no longer believed to have come from the plane's black boxes, a U.S. Navy official told CNN.
Shame, shame Angus; Batter Up told you it was the Soviets testing the captured Ukrainian killer dolphins.

Actually Batter Up, Angus Houston is not to be blamed here as he wanted to keep the detection of those pings secret until more research was done to confirm them.

The person who you should be blaming is our idiot PM, "The Mad Abbott", in this case who decided to jump the gun on them while on an overseas trip trying to score more political points (Angus was forced to tow the line by his boss Tony).

The thing is if you're going to blame someone, then get your facts straight 1st and make sure that you're blaming the right person.

But in the end, the Malaysian government is where the buck stops on this as they should've had a plane in the sky following this flight as soon as it went off course.

Cheers.

I am surprised that China has not exploited this incident to their political advantage. After all there were more Chinese citizens on the plane than any other nationality.

I never heard of this Abbott so excuse me.

Exploit what? Their total incompetence in this matter? China said their satellite found the plane and then they were the first to hear the pings. Now that Malaysia, the lead entity, is back to square one let them do what they want. The US is ready willing and able to help with the "contracted" next stage.

China has a vessel to search.

Fresh problems hit search for missing flight MH370 as technical problem forces the only ship left searching the Indian Ocean to return to port

Only Chinese vessel left looking for the plane suffered malfunction
Was forced to return to port in another setback for the search operation
A Chinese survey ship has begun mapping the new area's ocean floor
The data will determine the new technology required for the fresh search
The acoustic 'pings' which the previous search had been based off, are believed to not have come from black box but from search equipment

Considering that the towed pinger locator and the bluefin plus the technicians that ran them were all on loan from the US navy your "The Great Satan" hasn't proved to be that good in this either.

Cheers.

She should have said Mayday.

PHUKET: A British sailor crossing the Indian Ocean en route to Phuket in March has stepped forward to file a report that she may have seen the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370.

They didn't even respond to an unknown flight on military radar what would they have done about a women saying she saw black smoke trailing a plane at night. She was 13 months at sea at the time.

Calling her a "British sailor" I'll forgive as a language problem.

She's from Liverpool and she was on a boat, where's the language problem?

In the US that is a sailor. Someone on a yacht is a yachtsman.

I too took it to be referring to a sailor in the British navy until I was half way through reading the article. Very misleading intro.

If her claim is legitimate and can be verified I think we are back to the lithium ion battery explosion theory.

& the difference between a sailor & yachtswoman is?

Aren't both sailing on the high seas?

now a semantics feud is getting us off the point. More importantly I hope they kept a record of their positions on their voyage and it will help determine where to continue looking for the lost airliner.

Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370: Search goes back to basics turning to the power of maths to solve the mystery

IT took two years and thousands of number-crunching hours. But statisticians eventually found Air France Flight 447. Can they do the same for MH370?

Search and rescue authorities had a rough idea where Air France Flight 447 went down with 228 passengers on board in 2009. It had been flying on a predetermined flight path, on schedule and on track.

My God?! They really haven't found the plane yet? Wasn't up to date with this topic but a plane like that can't just disappear?

Semantics aside, it has proven one thing...

"Cruisers Forum member “europaflyer” recreated a map by using Google Earth, showing the yacht’s position compared with the projected flight path for MH370. The map showed the aircraft would have passed the yacht astern from port to starboard, just as Katherine remembered it. “This is what convinced me… to file a report with the full track data for our voyage to the relevant authorities,” Katherine said. Katherine and Marc on Saturday filed the report with the Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC), the Australian organization tasked with co-ordinating the search for MH370 in the southern Indian Ocean, and followed up with a second email to the JACC yesterday."

Is mystery underwater sound the crash of Flight 370?

(CNN) -- Australian researchers released an audio recording Wednesday of an underwater sound that they say could possibly be related to the final moments of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

It's a long shot, but researchers at Curtin University near Perth, Australia, have been studying records from underwater listening devices, including those meant to monitor for signs of underwater nuclear explosions, in an effort to help find the missing plane.
