Woo-Hoo! I'm back in business! Yellow Dog 4 [Fedora for ppc] is up and running perfectly. Well, except for the damn dmasound_pmac bullshit, it's running fine.

Now comes the hard part: Which version/nightly of the BOINC source code should I compile? I'm not aware of any "bad" versions available, but there isn't exactly a de-facto benchmark release listed either.

I need a reply ASAP - It's 04:00 EST, and I've got to have this machine ready to run by 07:00. I lost an hour by asking in the wrong place... (Thanks, Carl!)

There is only one really stable version: boinc_puplic_xx.xx.xx (4.13) you can dl the newest

The other nightly builds are the developers versions 4.56 i think.

Is there a particular URL, or will it be listed in the source code directory?

In case anyone else finds themself in a similar situation let me document how I shared BOINC's files between Yellow Dog and Mac OS.

Since I'm able to mount journaled HFS+ under Linux, I moved the OS X/Linux executable to their respective /usr/bins, and put BOINC's files into OS X's /usr/share/boinc. Afterwards, I made two alii in both OSs: alias boinc="cd /usr/share/boinc/; (boinc_4.13_powerpc-apple-darwin > boinc.out &); cd $OLDPWD" for OS X, and alias boinc="cd /mnt/carbon/usr/share/boinc/; (boinc_4.13_powerpc-unknown-gnu > boinc.out &); cd $OLDPWD" for Yellow Dog.

Even though YDL's BOINC kept getting "deferred for 1 days" over and over again (I didn't find out until [much] later on that night - So much crunching time wasted!), the two OSs share the same WUs well. Just make sure not to use Mac-on-Linux (MOL) at the same time!

Once again, many thanks to you, Boba Fett!
