I see a circular item in the belly area that appears to align with the figure's neck. Do you press down on the head (or maybe hit it with a manner) to cut or crimp an object placed in the belly?

Added info:

It's an English 'Tough Nut' cracker in brass. This is a rare example of a percussion nutcracker - pushing down on the sailor's head breaks the nut placed in his belly. It is more commonly found in cast iron.

Never seen it before...looked a bit like an oil or perfume dispenser to me:)

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay in response, I've been rather busy today.

Celttooth, Not really tuneful.

Julie, I suppose it could be a described as a sort of clamp, but it has a very specific use.

N9JFE, nothing to do with pianos..

Now 24 hours and only 2 or 3 messages, so I'll wait another 24.
Happy Crunching,

Graham

Wire crimper?

Doesn't look like any wire crimper or stripper I ever used.

Looks more like a medical instrument to me.
