Greetings: Please tell me if I'm crazy. I just built a new system with an Nvidia GTX670 and still have my old Radeon HD5750. The question is, since I'm actually using the Nvidia card for my video AND GPU processing for SETI, is it insane to think about plugging in the Radeon card and using it just for GPU processing? Or, is this inviting disaster, mixing the two in the same PC? If it's not insane, can anyone provide advice or suggestions on the approach? Thanks! |

You are not crazy. A few people have done it. It is somewhat pain in the a$$ though. |

Basically, make certain that you install the Nvidia drivers first and then the AMD drivers. I have had a 9800GTX+ and a HD5700 for a while, then a GTX460 and the HD5700, after that it has been the GTX460 and a HD7770, recently the GTX460 starting having screen corruption and reboots so I've removed it while i source something else. For the 2nd GPU you'll need to connect a monitor, a dummy plug, or extend the desktop onto the 2nd GPU. Because of the task limits in place, to ensure both GPUs receive work you'll need to set a small cache size, otherwise the faster GPU will receive all the work, for my GTX460 & HD7770 combination it was 0.7 days, when there is large amount of shorties going out then it lowers to around 0.5 days, you'll need to probably go a little lower.
