Do you wonder why some trolls seem just too prepared to go over the top with their shtick?

Yes, I know that.
My intent was to have people ask themselves if they might be dealing with more than some individual lonely loser internet troll when finding themselves involved in an argument in a forum or chat room.

The individual troll is a pain in the butt and means nothing. The fact that our governments are funding troll-like activities really is sinister.

If some of the idiots posting here are actually government employees we are in worse shape than I thought.

Orgil has accused me of working for the US Government to cover-up alien visitations! LOL I thought I'd throw that out there real quick to get that out in the open so I can cut that one right off at the knees.

Oh like that. Sorry, I didn't get what you were after at first.

I'd say that if they were steering the conversation in a way that would be beneficial for the government I'd say they are doing a pretty bad job at it. Trolling is a far to blunt way to steer thinking in a specific direction, even if you troll in the hopes of getting people to oppose the position you are trolling for.

Unless of course, they are working in teams. One person plays for troll, the other tries to then steer the course of thinking away from the troll but in a particular direction. Still, the internet is a big place. I very much doubt the government is sending employees to get involved in discussions on forums that I frequent.

Correct, they simply wouldn't bother. But you can bet that your views have been noted.

And you wonder why I don't like it. Indeed though, I am half expecting that if I ever were to apply for any kind of visum for the United States they would deny me because I've been blacklisted. And why? Am I a terrorist bend on destroying Western civilization? Am I a criminal? Not at all. I'm a law abiding citizen with no intention of harming anyone, yet the government might treat me like some criminal.

You give the Government too much credit. They couldn't find their ass with both hands.

Notice that there are scant, if any, details on what plans were thwarted by surveillance efforts. In the past we have Ben Gazi, 9-11 and the Boston bombing. Failure to understand the dynamics in Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and the list goes on.

When I lived in Iran I never worried that surveillance of any kind would be co-ordinated or effective for that matter. Too much information and too much incompetence.
