I attempted to find an explanation but was either searching the wrong key words or just missed it...

How is Recent average credit calculated? I see many users that have tens or hundreds of thousands RAC but mine is showing 3,201.47. Is this expected for a new user?

Im running an AMD FX-8350 4Ghz with all 8 cores @ 100% and a GTX 770. GPU core seems to stay between 70-98% but does not remain at 100%. I let it run at these levels pretty consistently unless Im needing to use the PC for something. Thanks in advance for your help.

Generally when you run Seti for the first time, or make major changes to your hardware (or crunching software), it takes around 6-8 Weeks for your RAC to settle down to it's "usual" level.
Coupled with recent system hiccups & crashes, you could easily add another week or 2, as long as there are no further server issues. Just 24-48 hours of server down time can take at least a week for your RAC to first fall, then recover- and that's once it's already reached it's usual value.

Many users with large RAC are running multiple machines with multiple GPUs in them.

EOAEvan, if your machine works 24/7 you could expect
more that 20000RAC but you would still need to be patient and wait for a month for it to climb up to the maximum and you are only several days in...

OP; look at the hardware the top crunchers are using;
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/top_hosts.php
They also run all out 24/7 SETI only.

@ Bill. Thank you for the link. I wont pretend to understand the math behind it but it clarifies that it is by no means simple a daily average but an average from the start of the account forward.

What doesn't quite make sense is how the number would increase so significantly. Since I was running it full boar the first day if anything it would seem that it should have started high and then settled into an average trend that would go up and down a bit based on how often I used the CPU/GPU for other things.

Ill just keep an eye on it. Also have another GPU I could throw in there. Just an HD 6850 so no where near the 770 but couldn't hurt!

Thanks to everyone for your responses.

As I mentioned, it takes 6-8 weeks.
You don't get credit when you return work, you get credit when the work has been validated, and that means other people have to return the same WUs that you processed. With the combination of fast & slow machines, that means 6-8 weeks for things to stabilise, wen there are no Seti system issues, and there are plenty of those around at the moment.
