I have the exact same problem. Now I have joined Predictor@Home also, and that works just fine. Check it out at http://predictor.scripps.edu/.
One suggestion though: check out your personal preferences, both the general and the project specific. Change the amount of free HD-space to a suitable number for you own computer. If you haven't done this you might get an error message about "not enough disk space for project" when trying to download new work.
