haste makes waste

Or as we say in Dutch 'haast en spoed is zelden goed', and very true it is!

From farm to Harvey.
As in Paul Harvey.
I don't think too many radio commentaries have stayed in my mind as much as his 'And so, God made a farmer' broadcast.
A true classic dissertation from a much loved and missed gentleman.

Harvey > rabbit

From the movie... Harvey (1950)

Due to his insistence that he has an invisible six-foot rabbit for a best friend, a whimsical middle-aged man is thought by his family to be insane - but he may be wiser than anyone knows.

junk

In her book And so it goes, Linda Ellerbee relates the story of an NBC News reporter who had been assigned to the Hong Kong bureau for a number of years and was suddenly reassigned back to the States. He sent a note inquiring whether the network would pay to move his family and junk back home. They replied that indeed they would, and ended up paying to transport his authentic Chinese junk across the Pacific. (She does not say whether they paid a crew to sail it, or loaded it on a freighter, or what.)
