The Naperville North Performing Arts Center presents Almost, Maine by John Cariani. Almost, Maine is a romantic play based on a fictional town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States—it’s almost in Canada. The story starts on a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter; all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend – almost – in this delightful midwinter nights’ dream. You will have a wonderful night meeting heartfelt characters like Marvalyn, a woman who is very good at protecting herself, and Steve, an open, kind fellow whose brother protects him. When the two of them accidently meet in the laundry room, we learn the meaning of what being hurt really means. Your heart will be pulled when you meet a married couple, celebrating their anniversary and trying to understand where “it†all went. And you will smile when you watch East, the repairman, desperately try to fix Glory’s heart, Glory being a visitor to Maine coming to say good-bye to her late husband. These are only a few examples of the charming stories that surround the residents of Almost, Maine. The show will be held at the Naperville North Performing Arts Center (NPAC) March 6 and 7 at 7:00 p.m. and March 8 at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices at the door are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors or can be purchased online at huskietix.thundertix.com for $8 for adults and $4 for students/seniors. Time to go sit at the front desk for an hour. Then lunch already. BBQ pork on a corn-dusted Kaiser roll with some sort of fries sounds like the best option. Ping! David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

Just started cooking dinner. Wasn't sure what to had, then decided on a pasta bake. Have put together Tomato Sauce, Red Onion, Leek, Peppers & Bacon, mixed in some boiled pasta, thrown into a casserole dish and topped with a generous layer of mature cheddar cheese. Baked in the oven for about 30-40 minutes and nom nom nom nom nom! The rest is history - or the pasta bake will be! |
