Hello, just a quick question about something that I have just noticed. In the past couple days, I've had several couple inconclusive results with wingmen, only off by 1 count. 5,2,0,0 vs 5,3,0,0 and 4,6,5,0,1 vs 4,6,6,0,1. The 3rd computer in each WU had results that matched mine, and all 3 results got marked as "completed and validated" and all 3 had credit.

I'm not too familiar with the SETI science and was wondering if this outcome is normal. I check my results at least once a day to look for invalids to make sure my setup isn't becoming unstable. I've never had one marked as such, whenever I looked at the inconclusives, the initial wingmen usually gets marked invalid with no credit. However, I didn't look at all of the inconclusive -> valid WU's since it is a bother to look through all the validated results for the WU that got moved off the inconclusive list if I hadn't bookmark them. Which set of results are accepted? Is it mine, and the computer with the different result receives validation and credit because the results are very close?

OK.

The task is initially sent to two different computers on two different accounts. If both are returned by the deadline, and they match closely, both are marked as valid. (This is the easy case).

For each task that misses deadline, another is created and (possibly) sent out. If the original is returned before the replacement is sent and it matches the wingmate, the replacement is not sent. If the original is returned before the replacement is returned, and it is a good match, it is marked as valid. The replacement only has to be returned by deadline and match loosely to be marked as valid.

If the first two tasks are not a close match, then both are marked inconclusive. Another task is sent out. If that replacement is a loose match with both of the originals, then all three are given credit. If the replacement is a close match with one and not match with the other then the two that match are given credit and the one that does not match is not given credit. If the three tasks do not have a match, a fourth is sent out (repeat as needed up to a maximum set by SETI ?10?)

OK, thanks for the explanation. I guess the past inconclusives that I had reviewed weren't closes matches like the few I had noticed in the past week.
