I have worked and worked (and is some cases, WE have worked) on this computer for some time now. I recently eliminated the HD as a cause as I put a SSD(SATA 3) in and there was no change in the invalids.

I am sort of left with the possible cause of it being the OS, Windows 8.1. If you think this could be the problem please let me know and I will put a different HD in the system and set it up to run with Windows 7. That will probably cause it to become a new computer.

The only think that I have noticed it that APs seem to run properly to completion. I am running stock. I am seeing WUs run for what seems to be a near correct time but end with no stddrr output except for one line.

This computer was my Windows 8 beta test machine and I am not sure I have enough power to set up another different computer. All that I run in SETI on this computer at present.

Almost forgot, this is the computer in question: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=5355835

Go all the way and reload XP, friend.
Best OS in the universe.

At least then you shall be able to rule out OS problems.

XP rocks. And if MS had an ounce of sense in their collective heads, they would continue to support it for eons.
Whether they like it or not, XP is going to be a major player in the PC world like, forever.
Yeah, I have 7 on my daily driver, but only kicking and screaming about it.
I just was forced to do so because certain programs I need were not being updated/.
All my crunchers are still on XP, and shall be until I or them die.

Mark, I am not sure I want to start playing with XP drivers again.......It would be Windows 7 that I would go back to, even though I have Vista still in sealed boxes on the shelf, HA.

Come on, Vista? Really?

Leave that one on the shelf.............I can still get XP drivers for anything I still run. But, I'm an old fart, and don't have much to upgrade. XP still rocks my crunching world, and if some would be believed, shall not be replaced with newer code that simply sucks more resources and is less stable.
Look, I got 8 rigs here that run 24/7 and live well on it. Not gonna change them until I am forced to.

But, we are starting to get off topic for this thread.

This could be not your case but i sugest you to read this thread:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=73765

Jasons build a new app and is avaiable at his site to try to avoid some type of wierd error on MB due the way windows 8 works and is related exactly to the stddrr output, since i don´t use it i´m not familiar with the problem and if that aplies to your host too.

Actually, minor correction only: It's a workaround cuda MB build for those running into a glitch with boincapi, as used by all boinc science apps, on all Windows versions from win95 onwards. Bill Gates forgot to tell Berkeley he's not using ANSI C (1989) again. [...and Berkeley don't apparently read MS manuals or best practices publications...]

Juan,
I have been following this thread since it started and I am not sure it applies to me or not.

Jason,
If you think I should try this I will be happy to. I do have a problem with 7z compression and can not seem to get it uncompressed.

I use Izarc, while making sure to untick any 'klingons', though there are other uncompressors available. If you still have issues after that and need some other format, then you can email me at 'contact at jgopt dot org' as mentioned on the download page

Please post a pic of your DPC latency (whut? :-O )

have a look if DPC latency checker indicates your device/system/chipset/network/usb/whatever drivers may have some quality issues. Totally expected with the most recent Windows version before any service packs.

You may have multiple problems - some of the invalid gpu results have a full stderr, but are finding more signals than the wingmen - mostly spikes. I only checked about 15, but many of those were -9 overflows from too many signals. What temp is the gpu?

Since you're having the problem with the CPU it's somewhat of a mystery. I can't remember if you looked into chipset drivers or not. Look for any specific Logic board drivers, firmware, or CPU drivers. There are many Win 8.1 Media Center PCs around doing fine, I have one on an Intel machine.

I am having problems, having just switched to TeamViewer with getting the picture from the Win 8 computer to where I do my Internet work. I can say that it is all orange, no red bars like it was showing last time(months ago) with different components. From DPC.

BTW, the last time I saw an AMD processor behaving as yours, it was due to overclocking. The person claimed someone else built the computer for him and he didn't even know the CPU was overclocked. I assume sometimes mixing certain hardware may also result in clocks being different than assumed. My Intel Board will set the CPU clock to 3 GHz all by itself, even though the CPU is rated at 2.4 GHz. Other than that, maybe the CPU is just defective...
