This morning, I was looking the results for the computer 7195628. The statistics indicate 42 tasks in progress as following: Jan.13 : 2 tasks Jan. 8 : 8 tasks Jan. 21: 1 task Jan. 22: 17 tasks Jan. 23: 13 tasks Total : 41 tasks Actually, I have only 14 tasks in process. It seems that some are missing or never received. Is it possible that somebody else received the missing tasks specially the ones of Jan 23. I cannot confirm that I have proceeded them because I am checking the results each day only at night. So, is it your system or mine in default? If it is mine, I will search for the errors. Thanks for your help. JC |

If you are referring to this machine. It is showing 14 tasks in progress with your other machines showing less. But there are instances where the server will assign a task to you and the client does not receive it. We normally call them ghost tasks and there is a process on the server, which may or may not be currently enabled, that will rend these tasks to you eventually. You may see "sending lost task", or something along those lines, on the client what this happens. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=7195628 page shows 14 tasks in progress? why do you think you lost tasks? NB tasks are removed from the webpages 24 hours after validating, so you only see validations in the last 24 hours plus whatever is pending/inconclusive/errored and of course current tasks in progress. edit: the number in 'in progress' should match how ever many you currently have on your machine (ready to start/running/ready to report) after you have reported them they get moved to the different validation subpages. Thank you Hall9000. I have just realized that on the computers list registered on me, the list showed 5 computers (HD) and in fact I have only one. Is it normal? If not, any suggestions to correct my status with Seti? |

Thank you Hall9000. Oh dear... several host IDs for the same rig. Have you by chance used 'add/remove preoject' several times over the past few days? Go to the current host (highest number) and use 'merge computers' near the botttom of the list. This will probably only work once the other copies don;t have any tasks left assigned to them. As for the tasks that are still showing 'in progress' on the copies (numbers different from 7195628) those are indeed lost now - nothing you can do about it, they'll have to time out [any workaround to this include heavy lifting in client_state.xml and is not recommended to the casual user]. Normal for you at this time. The 4 unused computers will drop off the list automatically after 30 days has elapsed since last contact with Seti server. Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

used 'add/remove preoject' several times over the past few days? No, I did used it. I really don't know what happened. Hall900 - I succeed to merge only one (biggest) on the existing 5. I guest, the time will do the rest. Is the 4 others will (Seti system refused to merge it because incompatibility ???) be erased automatically when empty? How to be sure that Seti will not put tasks on those 4 ID? |

used 'add/remove preoject' several times over the past few days? BOINC only assigns tasks to a client when it requests new work. So no worry of the other ID's acquiring new tasks. The machine IDs will become visible only on your all computers list. Then once after all of the tasks assigned to those ID's have been completed by the others hosts you can choose to delete them if you wish. Like the machine ID 5734573 that is on your list. However you don't need to do anything yourself. You can leave the old ID's there if you like. used 'add/remove preoject' several times over the past few days? There is a second merge entry at the bottom on the computer details page, try that one, it's called 'Merge duplicate records of this computer' as opposed to the 'Merge computers by name' on the Your computers page. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=7195628 Claggy |
