Now that the new ATI Radeon R9 290X is out in the market, I am hoping there will be a good competition for nVidia's 780Ti. Here is a good review from Anandtech.

I have been using nVidia till now. Recently, one of my older GPUs, a GTX 285 went bad. I need to replace it and was thinking of getting something from ATI for a change. Does anyone out there have this card crunching Seti? Any suggestions regarding the performance and value for money?

Edit: The Windforce model from Gigabyte is listed for $700 by Newegg.

Make sure you have the latest apps running.

Check my website to make sure.

On AP`s the 290x is faster than 780ti.
On MB7 should be almost equal.

Prices of 290 and 290X are well over recommended by AMD. People mining coins buys them like hot cakes. AMD advantage is gone. I can't see price wars (that I was hoping) in near future...

I did note the higher price tag on these cards compared to what AMD used to release before. However, I have never been able to understand the bitcoin stuff. Nevertheless, I really want a couple of ATI cards to cruch seti and the 290X seems to be the best one currently available, unless someone can point out another one.

I`d go for a R9 290X TriX from Sapphire.

It has special cooling and is factory overclocked as well.
