That´s exactly the point, GPu´s works better with 1 rail massive power supply who can easely handle the current spikes needed to crunch without overload. Older´s PSU before the GPU era, normaly don´t have that capacity.

That´s could be not his issue but sure is one of the sources of wierd error like the ones he experimented.

You need to be sure the PSU has enought power to drive the host before you go to the next tests.

BTW PSU Size almost not matter, i have a 1350W TT PSU and has almost the same size of a 250W old PSU.

Just a F.Y.I.

Tiger Direct has "REFURBISHED" Corsairs TX 750's that Wiggo mentioned on sale right now.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8521721&SRCCODE=WEBGOOPA&cm_mmc_o=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCV1-CjCE&gclid=CKHD8NHembwCFTHZQgodYAkAAg

I've never used a refurbished PSU. But I have used lot's and lot's of other fefurbished computer parts. I've also bought several parts from Tiger Direct. Never had a problem buying from them.

If you can, go fot that PSU, i use a similar 750W PSU in some of my hosts and they could power inclusive the 300W power hungry 690 or 2x670 running 24/7 with no problem.
