Have a read of the comments below the report .....

Salmond

Why would anyone read any comments after a news article? Apart from the fact that its where a lot of idiots with access to a keyboard go to hang out, any serious vested interest in the issue will actually pay people to go and post negative/positive comments there.

Salmond resigns

I'm surprised the media never gave this possibility a thought???

Well exactly, and as you were perfectly aware that was why I mentioned that to try to avoid a similar occurrence here. Salmon is too experienced a politician to go off in a huff, I'll bide my time until tomorrow to see what else gets reported.

That's just what your problem is. One minute you state this: -

But oh dear, Salmond has thrown a strop - bad loser?

Followed by the statement in bold.

Either you are doing it for a wind-up or you sorely lack comprehension of the English Language.

We are all aware of what politicians are like, but it cannot be disputed, he did the honourable thing. Not many politicians have that courage.

Salmond had nailed his whole political identity on getting Scottish independence so I'm not surprised that has announced he's standing down as First Minister of Scotland.

One good thing to come out of all this was this: -

Generation 2014 give their verdict

It has given youth an opportunity at a young age to make important decisions that affect their future, & from what has been seen, they've approached it sensibly.

The dangers ahead

"In the European Union there is another worry: what if Conservatives win the next British election, and hold another referendum in 2017? Has the uncertainty thrown up by this Scottish referendum increased or reduced the likelihood of the UK voting to leave the EU in three years' time?"

This referendum has shown that even though the nations that make up Britain have independent traditions & culture, they want to remain united.

It also highlights the fact that most are proud of being part of the UK, so the EU does need to worry...

...what if the "Yes" vote wins in 2017?

Been reading up on this Catalonia independence business. Do you think
Cameron agreed to the Scotland referendum as a way of sticking the boot in
on Spain over the Gibraltar issue?

Cameron agreed to the referendum because he is an arrogant out of touch public school tw*t who has no concept about how the Scottish view the British government.

Our country FM Carl Bildt call this Balkanization. He is not happy about it.

Catalonia's regional parliament has approved a law that the region's leaders say give them a mandate to hold a non-binding "consultation" - a referendum - Nov. 9 on independence from Spain.

Next perhaps is The Basque Country: (Euskadi. Spanish: País Vasco: French: Pays Basque) is an autonomous community of northern Spain.
